Drives: goggles and a speedo

Toluene or xylene will eat rubber fuel system components fairly quick at concentrations that make a difference in octane

Are you talking about injecting toulene with an injection kit? or adding ti right to the gas? If your talking about adding it to the gas tank this you prob get better results posting in the Alternative Fuel section

i have. i have tried using 1 gallon with 10 gallons of 91oct. the best performance i gained was with 1/2 gallon with 10 gallons 91oct fuel. you will LOSE performance if you use too much octane and dont up the boost or tune for it. i added it for knock prevention. i noticed it up top in the rpm range..it ran smoother and pulled smoother as well. im running 21psi on FP white rabbit/6.5TME hybrid.

I disagree..

In very high concentrations yes it does eat rubber components.
For 3 years I used a mix of 6l Toluene and 6l Xylene to a tankful of gas. in my WRX. No issues with rubber lines etc.

When I first got my Evo, I also used the same mix and my wife drove the WRX with the same mix.

Recently I have changed both cars over to a E50 mix,. The ethanol here in SA is not available at the petrol stations, so we buy it from chemical companies.

Using ethanol and with a retune, I have been able to gain 30wkw with the WRX and close to 50 wkw, largely from upping the boost and running more timing, which wasn't possible with the old tol/xyl mix.

Bottom line is, ethanol is cheaper, you can get more power from using it, less of a ball ache to mix.

Ethanol ftw.

Drives: 04' GSR

Doesn't ethanol require 30% more fuel to create the same power though
