Labonte Meth kit issues...*****
I just had my Labonte Meth kit installed and I am having some issues. When I step on the gas (in any gear) the boost will get caught up at about 12psi for about a half second and then will go to full boost. If I start off in 1st gear and then "bang" through the gears, it will get caught at 12psi in first gear then shifting through the others seems pretty much fine. Can anyone explain this...
I have the VC100 controller and IFS30C fail safe.

How is your Fail Safe wired? If it's active all the time you have to start flowing meth to close the wastegate and that's what is causing the delay in boost. The way I have mine wired is through a Hobbs switch that comes on at about 18 PSI so the meth can start flowing with the wastegate closed then the system comes on and there is no delay.

i have the VC25 and IFS100 wired up as per the labonte diagram. all power including the power for the FCS-10 are wired in parallel and close when it sees lack of flow or over flow. the weird thing is that i worked fine for a month or so and then started to act up. dan has been awesome and switched parts out with me to test and trouble shoot. I should have a new model VC25 this week to try

My start psi is about 10psi. Your saying I should start it later? I'm not 100 percent sure how it's wired, a mechanic did it for me... But I'm sure he wired as the labonte diagram shows.

I have the Labonte Maf kit rather than the VC25 . I thought that is why mine is acting up?

I'm talking about the point that the IFS30C powers on and cut's boost to wastegate pressure meth injection is always armed and starts at 15 PSI. I boost to about 30 PSI but I don't start to flow until 15 PSI and it ramps up from there. If the failsafe has power below 18 PSI there is not enough flow to close the wastegate so I wired it through a Hobbs switch that starts the failsafe at 18 PSI. All the Hobbs switch is is a pressure operated adjustable 12 volt switch.

It sounds like if this is the case then the Hobbs switch should have been included in the kit. But I guess Dan from Labonte has jamevo's car trying to figure out what is wrong with it and I'm awaiting word from Dan on the solution to this problem. As for now, I think I'm going to have my kit rewired without the failsafe seeing on how it is only causing problems for me...

I am going to be working on my car tomorrow. You can see a full description of what the car was doing here at this post below.
having problem with my labonte setup
But the jist is that despite perfect operation for weeks, the FCS-10 solenoid began to fail. It would spray and then stay closed after letting off the gas, causing a lack of flow and activating the failsafe to divert to waste gate. The IFS-10 was inspected by Dan at Labonte and there were no problems with it. He swapped out my FCS-10 and returned the IFS10 to me. I installed the new parts and had better results, but not 100%. The failsafe was kicking on anytime I would do a pull for tuning. 3000rmps in 3rd or 4th would trigger the failsafe, but sometimes would open back up and spray. If I rifle through the gears it would spray like a champ. After further testing, I was seeing inconsistencies with the FCS-10. I now have the newer style VC25 which takes the power for the FCS-10 and powers it directly off of the harness on the back on the controller rather than having it wiring in parallel with the IFS-10, VC25, and Pump. Though we are not certain why, it is behaving this way, we think this may solve the problem. If not...I am going to rip the whole dam thing out and re install it hoping to fix a not so apparent problem. I will let you all know how I make out.
If you have any other input. let it fly. thanks guys. And BTW Dan at Labonte is awesome. very responsive to anyone who needs help.

if all cars were the same, running the same boost and the kits were evo specific.

I just don't understand whats causing this...I will be running a new turbo within the next week or so with a higher wastegate actuator...is this going to take care of my problem...?

It may, the fail safe has to see the preset flow minimum before you hit wastegate pressure or the wastegate will open.

I guess then my question would be is why if I set my start psi to 6, does it still have the hesitation...?
