Dyno Results! BBK on pump vs alky: Aquamist HFS-1 FTW!
Original thread posted in dyno section:
BBK / MAP Stg3 head /DB Performance tuning Dyno Results! Pump Gas & Alky!
I wanted to make special note here demonstrating the power-adding capability of solid alky injection setup. I'm running the Aquamist HFS-1 with 2 jets: 1.0mm and .9mm, for a total volume of ~950cc/min. I'm running some black-label (got it from a buddy) Methanol 50/50 with distilled water. I'm also using tephra v7t6's mapswitching functionality on the stock ECU.
Basically +50whp / +50wtq with the alky on, and tuned. Both pump gas and alky maps are fully tuned. Pump is 25psi, alky on is 30psi (peak) tapering to 25 @ 8000rpm.

This is the first meaningful comparison between the pump and 50:50. I wonder if running 100% will yield more power?
Thank for the post, a very good reference.

Nice Chris! Definitely try 30psi and 100% meth . It'd be nice to overlay three maps to see the power potential on 93 pump & 25psi, 50/50% water/meth & 30psi and 100% meth & 30psi.

I posted this last year:
Aquamist HFS-1, GM BCS, and Tephra v5: together at last!
That was on the IX turbo and I saw a 40whp/50wtq gain using denatured alcohol. I switched from denatured alcohol to 100% methanol, saw no discernible difference. Then went to 75/25 meth/water, and it felt the same after tuning. Now on 50/50 meth/water, I think this shows that with tuning, each is capable of nearly the same power advantage over just pump gas. I think the difference lies in the tuning, but I'm not even sure that will make a ton of difference either.
It has been said that 100% methanol tunes should target 11.0 AFR, 75/25 should target 11.3-11.4 AFR and 50/50 should target 11.8 AFR for best power results. I saw a negligible power difference going from 10.5 up to 11.8 while tuning, it was then adjusting timing that made the most difference.

Thanks! With what I said above combined with the other plusses of running 50/50 I think I'm going to be keeping it the way it is. The mixed price brings the cost/gallon down to a nice $5/gallon, the added cooling properties, and the lack of flamability all add up to a nice product that makes me happy. Plus, I'm running a 1.0 and a .9mm nozzle now, so there is still a great deal of methanol finding its way into each cylinder

I run a BBK full with lots of bolt-ons.... I was around 320 whp max (Cobb mustang dyno, 4200 ft. elevation) on 22psi no meth (stock Evos run 200-220 max on this dyno)..... with the meth kit (AEM) on at 28.5 psi I hit 385whp/373wtq using mostly meth with a little bit of distilled water, somewhere around 80:20 or 90:10 ratio of meth/water... the little bit of water helps with cooling, but I mainly did higher meth content due to 91 octane crap is the highest pump gas available here in SLC .... saw at least a 65whp jump with meth and high boost

Also probably makes a difference if your pump gas is 91 vs. 93.... there is only so much boost you can run on 91 vs. 93 so I went higher meth content than water which meant instead of running 22psi I now run 28.5... the ratio I mentioned was recommended by the tuner @Cobb, but I am at a high altitude/91 octane, so different factors

Very good point! I am starting with BP93 as a base fuel. I actually tried running the car at 28psi on straight pump (peak) and it didn't really make much more torque but it was safe and didn't knock. Definitely I would go with a 75/25 mix if I wanted more octane in the mix.

Nice is that the bbk lite or bbk full? Wonder what the 100% would be
100% with my green tephra v5, ecu controlled boost @ 29psi tapering to 23psi and it was 398whp on a mustang dyno a few months back, now I've got buschur im & tb it could squeeze a few more hp out of it prob, I'm still on a stock fmic. If I remember right my afr was 11.3-11.7
I only run one 1.0mm jet with my hsf-1
