0-5v flow output from hfs-6

Just wondering if someone could help, I know I can get 0-5v flow voltage from either green wire going to the gauge or yellow going to the flow sensor itself however it requires me chopping up the rj-45 cable, is there a cleaner way to do this?

Yes, the green port (user has this output). You need to get yourself a RJ45 plug. No need to chop the other cables.

PIN NUMBER 5 is the sensor V.

RJ45 orietation:
- tab on top
- cable on the right side of the RJ45

pin #1 is at the top. and pin #8 is on the bottom.

+1 on the info concerning the user port.

also richard, is there a cc/min to volt scaling we can use, or should it just be considered raw voltage?

Pin 1 = 12v fused.
Pin 2 = remote ground monitoring (green led)
Pin 3 = Gauge button: 0v = system on (0.5A max).
Pin 4 = W-IDC signal (0-5V). Uncompensated 0.1mA maximum
Pin 5 = Flow sensor signal 0.5 - 4.5V. User calibrated 0.1mA maximum
Pin 6 = MAP Sensor signal send/receive (0-5V) 0.1mA maximum
Pin 7 = Signal ground. (0V)
Pin 8 = F-IDC send/receive (digital)

Use this port at you own risk.

Use this in you

thanks, hooked up pin 5 to my zeitronix and it logs the flow nicely.

At no flow, it should read 0.53V unless it is influenced by external voltage sources. The extermnl device must be a high inour impedance type.

Does your V-sensor read 1.7v?

hmm mine reads 1.7 on on my zeitronix zt-2 which is meant to be high impedence, full flow reads 5v

maybe i'm logging the wrong pin, might be logging w-idc? what voltage would w-idc show at 0 flow? should work either way though shouldn't it? w-idc should be equivalent to flow? can you tell me what color pin 5 should be.

I can look though my EvoScan settings when I get home and give you the equation I use, but it really needs to be calculated by each person as it will vary based on your scaling of the gauge.

Best way to do it is measure voltage as 0 flow, then measure voltage at full flow. Collect the water sprayed for 30 seconds of full flow. Then weigh the amount of water sprayed (in grams) then multiply by 2 to go CC/min.

Then assume linear scale of voltage from 0 flow to full flow and you should be able to derive the equation.

Let me know if this is not clear and I can give you more guidance.

If you have a digital voltmeter, try other pins until you find 0.53v. W-IDC can be anything, depending on the settings.

thanks richard, I did in fact have it set on W-IDC, still followed the same graph as I expected flow to be so I didn't realise. it reads exactly .53v on the zeitronix now and peaks at 2.5

You can log the W-IDC also. You can check it against the Dud-tool.
