meth octane rating is ~113. You can simply take the weighted average of any gas combination to find out is rating. So say 10gal of 92 and 1gal meth. 10*92=920. 1*113=113. 113 + 920 = 1033 / 11 = 92.9 oct

Which kit are you going with? I have one for sell at a dirt cheap price (minus a failsafe).

A 50/50 mix of W/M will let you run the same tune as if you are using 116octane race gas. Water helps to slow the combustion flame front some and has an infinite octane rating, so octane rating is not simple math for 50/50 mix.
As a general rule of thumb, 50/50 mix will raise base fuel octane up by about 25%.
Best regards,
Dan

Dan -- I was told it was better to run just straight Methanol for consistency, cooling, and increased effective octane. Would adding H20 decrease my knock tendency? Thanks

Absolutely! Water removes a lot more heat than methanol. As we know the more heat the more chance of knock. Methanol removes more heat than Gas but not nearly as much as H2O. Methanol atomizes very well so it cools the charged air down. (Like a good IC)It also raises the octane value (still less than race gas though) So in reality 100% methanol is like running 100 octane with a good IC. Plus you have to run twice as much so it’s not very cost effective. You won’t get the best benefit out of the injection when running 100% meth. Most do it because it’s really easy to tune, just like race gas…
Water atomizes and does evaporate a little (depending on climate) prior to entering the motor. What doesn’t evaporate goes into the cylinder cooling it. Once after ignition water turns to steam in that process the water removes the most amount of heat. Controlling the burn, allows for advance timing and more boost than without injection. In theory you should be able to block off the radiator with a cardboard box and inject enough water that when it turns to steam it removes all the heat and sends it out the exhaust, never overheating. ^^^ That much water needs a great ignition system though.
50/50 mixture is the best of both worlds. At the top of this section where the sticky’s are there is a thread that talks about the different mixtures.

Aquamist is by far the best kit on the market. I would say look at the HFS-5. Do your research as to why, ask questions, don’t let price be the deciding factor, you wouldn’t when building a motor, don’t here.
Reasons;
1. Customer service… Absolutely the best! Richard stays up till 2 AM in the UK daily trying to help us here in the USA.
2. Research, the details and the precision of each kit is of the highest standard.
3. Warranty, if there is to be an issue Aquamist will take care of it.
4. Quality always getting better and changing to improve your experience
5. Experience, from F1 racing, WRC, diesels and much much more.
There’s way more just search and find out.
Good Luck

^^ So bump for more feedback...esevo feels that 50% meth and 50% water will provide the best power / knock reduction. Abner / others have you experimented and seen a benefit of running 50% water? Currently I am straight Meth and wonder if adding water would be even better...Thanks
