A Failsafe is a must have if you are running meth.
If you do not install one, you are asking for big trouble.

The failsafe is for when the pump stops working.
It will cut the boost to WG pressure to save your engine.

I would also get a low level indicator for the fluid level.
That will tell you if it's low.
2 seperate things.

A good failsafe mechanism that can monitor flow and supply level and take action if necessary should basically be a requirement if you tune for the water/methanol being injected. If you are just injecting water/methanol on top of a safe or factory tune that's not dependent on the water/methanol then you should be OK..........but IMO thats a waste if whats being attempted to be done with the water/methanol injection is more then just cooling the intake air charge down.

There's a stickied thread in this section that helps to explain failsafes and why to use.........if tune for the W/A get a failsafe that you trust will do what you want it to do.

you should

things to look for in a failsafe
-trigger when underflow(clogged nozzle, kinked tubing, pump worn, leak pre flow sensor...)
-trigger when overflow(leak post flow sensor......nozzle popped off...)
-trigger when low level sensor in injectant tanks are activated

look for a failsafe system that will handle all the above - an excellent choice is the Aquamist DDS3

you know the saying - you want to play, you got to pay. pay now and pay less, ~$300 for a failsafe vs. a blown motor.

a failsafe is a cheap investment when you look at the big picture...

It all depends on how you are going to tune your engine with meth. A 50/50 mix will drop AFR from 11.5 to 11.0. You can lean back out to 11.5 and have a safe tune that will add some power. If you are going to lean out engine more then 11.5, then Yes a Fail Safe is a must.

Here is a link to our current fail safe product offerings.

For Evos our IFS-30C works very well. Keeps you at WG boost until meth flow is above set point, no meth = no high boost. Also keeps you at WG if you blow a fuse or a wire comes loose on your meth system.

anyone know if there's a failsafe system for SMC v2.0? recommendation?

Are there generic failsafe that I can add onto this?

thanks guys! my used VIII came w/ SMC but w/o any failsafe. I want this to kick in at certain boost level based on a single ECU flash and I can toggle between Hi/Lo boost settings...thx

^DDS3 triggering Tephra Map switching or the wastegate solonoid will work just fine.

The DDS3 will work well. The gauge button will enable you to run high or low boost. Need to contact me to supply the -4AN fittings.
