E85 with 100% meth or 50/50 meth/water?
Sorry to double post in a different forum but I would like to get some input from you guys since not everyone in here visits the Alternative Fuel forum.
Here's a direct link:
E85 with 100% meth or 50/50 meth/water?
Here's my question:
Quote:
Not sure which forum this question should be in so I'll start here first. Has anyone run E85 as their primary fuel and added meth injection on top of it? I recently switched to E85 but still have the meth kit on the car.
I did some research and it seems like water-contaminated E85 forms formic acid during low temperature partial combustion. Formic acid causes rapid engine wear (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E85_in_standard_engines). I assume this doesn't hold true during a WOT pull and 50/50 water mixing with E85 is okay?
It looks like the guys at English Racing has some experience with E85/meth (http://www.englishracing.net/media/r...lishracing-evo) but I would appreciate input from anyone doing E85 & 50/50 meth/water or E85 & 100% meth.

You need to use a pump capable of running 100% meth. It has to have methanol resistant seals and diaphragm to prevent failure. The car without meth and straight E would run 115 almost 116 so the meth was worth an easy 80-90whp. Now of course thats an extreme example since it doesnt have any other intercooler, but on Pauls Evo when it was on E85 and a 37R was able to make about 50whp with E85 and meth than straight E85.

Yes, I have a pump that can handle 100% meth. Ever try or think about trying 50/50? Do you know if that combination will form formic acid?
Thanks again for your help.

Forgot to ask something. With Paul's car, how much meth were you guys injecting while running the 1600cc injectors?
I currently have FIC 1450's with an M10 nozzle in place. I do have an M15 nozzle but not installed.
