Running meth at the right time

So I think that most people here understand that meth will slowly reduce the life of your engine. I've been hearing from a few STI owners that they have a meth system where as soon as they go wide open throttle the meth kicks in, and doesn't come on until.. This would cause increased engine life correct?? And if so, how would one set this up?? If i dropped off my car at buschur and told them to do that could/would they?? Are there any similiar setups where i could just flip a switch to activate it whenever??

All meth kits are designed to come on at a certain point, whether its boost pressure, IDC, MAF frequency or TPS. More advanced kits come with progressive flow controllers and 2D mapping ability.

Haha.. wow.. lost me at IDC. I'm new to this.. guess i should have done a little more reading up before i started asking questions.. I'm currently reading trying to learn. Another quick question.. is it alright to run straight water at times if you're tuned for meth instead of a mix?? I'm guessing it would be a little less abuse on the motor..

NO if you are tuned for meth and run water instead this will affect your air to fuel ratio, which could make you run lean, and your octane level since meth is burned as fuel, and lowering you octane will lead to knock.

Thats a great question^! I don't think everyone agrees with the same answer. With meth you not have as much carbon deposts, on the flip side some say that after time you will have a wash down effect past the rings. I am no expert, but have been using meth in my DD for almost 15,000 miles with no ill effects.

hmm thanks for the info deep.
i'm prob gonna DD for like 3-4 years so, I dunno if the effects come in after a while, and what the effects might be. I am trying to do some reading on my own but user experience is always best.

When you get pulled over, the silly ear-to-ear grin makes the cop think you're on something - and he's right!

If you have a properly installed and tuned system that employs the appropriate fail-safes to ensure that your engine drops back to a conservative setting when a fault condition is encountered, then no, there probably are no cons.

As far as the engine, no. Only issue I had was one of the seals was leaking in the meth tank. I sent the tank back, they fixed it, and had it back within a week or so.

I will probably have one in my Evo X at some point.

There is just no substitute for boost!
