Coolingmist make nice kits, but you have a good amount of mods you need to do before you consider methanol. If you were planning on getting everything in one shout i wouldnt recommend that, you need to slowly get use to the power and learn to control the car before you step into a 400whp car.

Hi,

Our system will work outstanding for you. Its not going to gain you a tremendous amount of HP for a stock car, you can see a 7-10% gain from timing advance and efficiency. The more mods you get later the more power you will make. If you ever decide to tune for the methanol you will gain the most.

its certainly a great investment whether your car is stock or has 400 HP. If your stock you will likely run more concentration of water.

Let me know if you have questions, you can call us as welll or email us at info@coolingmist.com.

I have the coolingmist evo specific kit with smart injection and trunk mount kit. My tuner will be doing a complete write-up of the kit from top to bottom from the installation process to the tuning process to problems that we encountered. I also from what I have seen and heard, will be the first to employ certain features of the Smart Injection system on the evo and that will also be in the write up. The write-up will be posted here on evom and perhaps some other evo sites as well.

Now, about your specific kit, you have just the vari-cool black box. Pretty simple....just set the minimum boost knob to the psi you wish to start spraying meth/water, the maximum boost knob to the psi in which you want the meth/water to be spraying at 100% pressure and lastly the little gray knob in the middle is kind of like your tuning knob where you select the aggressiveness or rate at which the meth/water will be injected.

Meth is a great investment in my eyes for several reasons so long as you use a 50/50 mix with distilled water.

1) The water in the 50/50 mix will in essence steam clean your engine, taking away carbon build-up.

2) It is very economical in the sense that it's cheaper than buying race gas. By running a 50/50 mix with 91 octane, it will raise your octane level considerably. I've been told about 110 octane or there abouts and 5 gallons of VP M1 Methanol cost me about $30 or so dollars, maybe $35 and I go through maybe at the absolute most 1 gallon of meth per month.

Warnings:

You just have the Varicool black box which doesn't have any built in failsafe. The biggest hazard that you face is having there be a leak in the line somewhere, the pump going out, or the nozzle getting clogged and the end result being your motor not getting enough fuel and going What you can do to counter this simply is by purchasing an A/F gauge to monitor your AFR which wouldn't really act as a failsafe per say, but it would give you the heads up if something was going bad if say all of a sudden your AFR shot up real high under boost. If you want to go a step farther, you can purchase the Smart injection and with that use many fail safes.

You can run meth on a stock car, no problem. With a tune you will see very nice gains. An example of gains would be my car which without meth and on 91 octane at 22 psi, put down 330 wheel Hp and 322 tq. With my meth kit I'm looking to get close to if not slightly over 400 wheel at around 26 psi. One more word of caution that I just thought about...if you don't have upgraded head studs.....you run a higher risk of lifting the head above 25 psi.

I dont know if you are aware we have a dealer in Trinidad that has our product in stock that is local to you. Contact Gerrard at 1-868-625-8638. They placed an order of our Standard Trunkmount kits about 2 weeks ago so I know that very kit is instock.

Thanks!

He can get you the failsafe as well. If you dont tune your vehicle to rely on the water injection you dont need the failsafe. If you tune for it, you should consider it.

Failsafe is here:

http://www.coolingmist.com/detailmain.aspx?pid=1099

It is also a controller, meaning you can use it to activate your system based on MAF, or RPM or MAP as well.

Read the documentation on it, its pretty cool.

Ben,
You werent suppossed to let the cat out of the bag yet. It also appears you have done a lot more research on the side because you know quite a bit there about the alky injection now.
