Aquamist HFS users: At what IDC % are you starting injection?

Just wondering what others are using as a turn on point. Mine is currently tuned to turn on at the minimum setting and it seems like it sprays sometimes off boost in the higher gears.

Anyone triggering the HFS-5 with a MAP sensor?

Thanks.

Drives: goggles and a speedo

Having it spray under low load/high fuel demand would actually increase the part load efficiency of the engine if you lean the AFR to stoich and still have a egr intact (operating in closed loop).

Probably a good thing

The egr system wont work in open loop but in closed loop it might adj for the extra fuel if the concentration is strong enough.

This might sound crazy but alcohol (even diluted in gas) has much higher dilution rates than straight gasoline

This is an interesting topic.

Over the years people associates WAI with boost conditions. I think this is because the early systems are normally triggered by boost.

The earlier system and some of the newer PPS system cannot deliver accurate flow at low load area due to either irregular pressure at low pump speed and poor atomisation.

A system such as the HFS-5 can almost regarded a secondary fuel delivery system because the method and hardware used is almost identical to the standard fuel injection system. For this reason, the system will meter fluid flow at a huge dynamic range. It will no longer make the engine hesitate at the onset point.

You can probably can tell us more on how the system behaves, can feel the onset of delivery at the minimum onset point of 12%. As far as the engine is concerned, it just sees a cooler charge and better fuel grade. The result of the close loop AFR and Knock count is probably very close to running a high octane fuel.

Please post some of your findings and if the fluid consumption is unacceptably high.

What's a good IDC% on stock injectors to kick on an HFS-1? 40%?

40% is good for HFS-1, just about the start of a boost ramp.
