No tune on meth
I was having a discussion with a coworker about meth injection. I was saying that I dont't want to go crazy with the boost/timing due to me being too cautious about my engine and failure. He said it would be OK to get my car dyno tuned to the max w/out the meth running (which it already is) and then just use the meth for the cooling capabilities. He said it would have the same effect on power as one of those intercooler sprayer things. Now this makes sense to me but I want some other opinions on this setup.

if youre running a very small amount and just use boost to lean it out youll be okay... kinda like running 100 oct... but i would get it tuned and use a good amount to have some real fun.
Cheers!

What parameters of the engine tune would change if I ran meth w/out a tune? What would constitute a mild tune- just advance timing and no boost or vice versa?

I think what they are saying is its alright to run meth injection and bump your boost up a couple psi to lean the AFR back out. But it would be wise to get a wideband and a quality tune and enjoy the true benefits of running meth.
BTW, You don't need to "go crazy with boost and timing" but you defiantly want to tune for meth injection, it willl be safer.

Chuckp explained well if your not going to get tune... atleast get wideband to monitor.. But please get TUNED..

Another question for you guys. I'm already pushing 360whp and I don't have head studs installed. Do you thing I should get head studs installed before I do the meth? Is there a "limit" to power and boost before the head gasket takes a ****? Thanks for the advice on the tune, I will definitely get a tune done with the purchase of the meth kit. Now I just have that one more question to get answered.

I think most of the folks responding to this are missing the point. The OP wants the tune to NOT be dependent on the meth, so tuning for it defeats the purpose of what he wants. It sounds like you would like to tune right to the edge of what is possible without the injection, and then just add it for reliability and consistency? If that's your goal, then yes you can do that. Don't expect to make additional power over and above what you have without the injection -- except to the extent that your tune is more maxed out than it would be if you didn't plan to have the extra insurance. Also, don't inject too much or it will actually slow you down by overcooling combustion.
Head studs would be a good idea at that power level. You don't need them if you never get any knock, but it's a lot easier to put in studs than pull the head to fix a blown head gasket.

Read some books and articles on tuning, it's all the same concept.
Here: http://www.scholar.google.com
About headstuds - *test have shown that boost pressure does not effect peak or average pressure nearly as much, if any, as timing (or knock).
*for nerds, as myself, insisting on documented results, see SAE technical paper 2007-01-3625, fig 6

If you wanted just the cooling capabilities, you could tune without it and then add it in. You won't be gaining much hp from it, just the peace of mind. Plus, if you just wanted the cooling, you could just spray 100% water.
I would suggest tuning with it, though. You will then see the full capabilities of it. When tuning for it, you'll look at the AFR's, timing, and boost pressure. Those are the parameters you should be concerned with (in a nutshell).
However, you can use it any way you want. It won't hurt either way.

If your going to install meth injection then get a tune for it and use what map/boost levels you have now for when your not running it imo but once you get tuned I don't think you'll wanna do anything else. Labonte MotorSports said it best just run 100% water if you want for the cooling. But headstuds I just installed because I'm running high boost but for the cost of them its just cheap insurance so if you have the $ and time its never a bad thing

if you run a small nozzle and something like a 50% mix you will richen up the afr's a bit but you can counter that by raising boost slightly...you still won't make nearly the power you would if you had tuned the car though...
