SMC kit opinion wanted

Hey guys,

I've got an SMC alky kit sitting in my basement for about 2.5 years now. I want to run alky, but I just don't know if I want to keep this kit or go with something else. Before you dog the SMC, let me tell you what it is. Its got a 2.5 gallon remote tank, modified progressive controller to run on 0-5V input (as opposed to boost), a handbuilt (by Steve @ SMC) pump with upgraded seals, etc to handle 100% meth, and an M15 jet. I got this kit from a group buy and then sent the pump and controller back to Steve afterwards for modifications with the intentions of using the kit shortly thereafter.

Now from the get go, I've been told time and time again that there would be an integrated SMC failsafe availble. Obvously as you all know, there still is none. Now I won't run this kit without one. I was considering the DDS3, but I'm still undecided. Should I should stick with what I've got and add the failsafe or should I try selling this kit and starting from scratch? The kit was around 425 back then and is brand new, but I'm not sure what It'd fetch in todays market. What do you guys think?

honestly... with the upgrades you have with this kit, id stick it out and use it. My SMC kit works very well, and mine isnt as good as yours

you can go thru snow and get the added failsafe you want... or maybe even labonte's failsafe may work with your car... im not 100% sure. Otherwise, the kit itself works great, and it sitting isnt doing anything for it. You have a lot of potential sitting in your basement

New the kit from SMC is 499 i think is what i was quoted, or 449, im not sure.

I agree with Bigric, My kit has served me well for quite a while and has none of the upgrades yours has. You have got me thinking though.

no need to go fixing something that isn't broke...just add a failsafe to what you have...

We have a very extensive failsafe/programmer/datalogger.

Not only is it a failsafe, but you have many features not available in other failsafes including the ability to create a 2d MAP through a grid based 0-5V output that you can send to your SMC unit for 2D progressive grid mapping. It can activate a solenoid, also can be used to activate/deactivate upto 5 different devices.

It has:

4 0-5V inputs (TPS, MAP, etc)
2 Frequency Inputs. RPM and/or MAF can be programmed.
1 EGT INPUT

5 programmable ground outputs
0-5V programmable output.
7 channel datalogger.

Thought I would throw it out to you as an option.

You may want to consider the Aquamist DDS3v8 system - a complete one-stop shop as far as failsfe is concerned.

Example of an install on a SMC system:
SMC & Aquamist DDS integrated...finally done!
