20G SMC Alky guys
I'm looking for people with 20G's running alky. I'm curious as to where your start and max settings are.
You can post here or my thread on the BR forums: http://buschurforums.com/forum/showthread.php?p=75600
As you can see I assumed the MAX setting was for max boost but it's the point where the pump speed is full speed.. doh!

Justhill,
Two important relevant notes from me regarding your issue.
1)I do know someone from Phoenix that runs a 20G TME and has alky(SMC), he was tune by Al back in April here in Tucson(his user id is presici0n, Mike I believe)
2) I had a conversation over the phone with Steve at SMC. My question/concern was about the controller showing a maximum boost reading of 26psi on the dial.
He explained me that the controllers are actually calibrated to run up to 30psi and that the reason why they did not inprint the 30psi number on the dial is because they ran out of space and also because many people usually run bellow 30psi anyway.
I hope I helped you a bit with my contribuition.
Carlos

Right but that max setting is where the pump kicks in at full speed. I hold anywhere from 21-23psi to redline with a 26psi spike. I guess the real question is where should the pump be going full speed?
I've got it around 20psi right now and AFR's are ungodly rich.. which means I should be on the right path! (I think at least)

Justhill,
During the tuning of several alcohol fitted cars Al spent some time on my car and precisi0n's car trying to achieve the maximum flow capacity on the pump.
We found out that having the left switch up and right switch down on the v2 controller gives you the most PSI flow. This test was done using several SMC controllers and more than one nozzle setting.
Base on my own experience and having Al as a witness I would say that you will be better off with the switch configuration I just provided.
NOTE: Our test was done staticly and not building boost, just by using the test button. Also noticed that the sounds of the pump changed to a high pitch sound.

That is what I understood when I spoke with Steve (the owner of SMC). I explained him that my concerns was that my car boosts well pass 26psi and I was concern about not getting alcohol above 26PSI. He then told me that the dials are set to 26psi due to lack of room to inprint the numbers but that the system is actually built to run 30psi.
I am not the engineer that built the system but I am well known to give details when I talk about a subject otherwise I wouldn't even mentioned.

I'll give that a try. I wish they had something more accurate than lil dials for setting this up.
According to my zt2 wideband with the start setting between 11 and 16 it was kicking in like 9psi (at least the light turned on) I turned it up to around 16 and the light would come on around 11-12 psi according to the zt2 map sensor.
I'll check out the dip switch settings to see where mine are at.. I also want to tripple check my vac lines and do another boost leak test so I can rule a leak out.
So if you set your MAX to 25psi you will get max flow at 25psi.. but if you boost tapers you're not going to get max flow through the powerband.. is this correct?
Forgive me guys I probably need to do more reading

That was my custom dynoflash timing I believe. I've made a totally new map since then... I'll be using my pump gas map to start tuning for alky.. once I figure out where is best for start/max.

I don't see any dip switches on the controller itself. Other than the two dials on the front. I'll look again just to make sure I'm not crazy
Edit: No dip switches on the controller at all hmm

Open the controller box cover and see if the dip switches are inside. They might of forgot to make a small cutout in the side of the cover??

Well I've totally redid my wiring on the controller to make sure everything is 100% safe as far as wires rubbing and such.. working in a car when its 90f+ outside really sucks.
Anyways I'll be doing more testing tonight and tomorrow with the alky!

not so good pic but u can at least get an idea (I run 26psi holds 22-24 at 7500rpm 3rd gear)
Car is a monster. I'm 1 flash into the alky tune after spoolup AFR goes from 11.3 to 11.1 around 5500 hits 10.9 and keeps falling til redline. Needs some work but it's already fun.
