I have finally finished my WI project. With my Aquamist 1s system w/ flowmeter and my XEDE, I have come up with pretty much every failsafe I can think of. Here is a list of unfortunate events that could happen and not effect my motor:
I run out of water/methanol.
The line bursts/breaks before the nozzle.
The line completely plugs up.
The line breaks at the pump.
Any line leaks.
The line has a partial plug up (half the amount of fluid entering the UICP)
I put water instead of alcohol in.
The pump dies
The flowmeter dies
The whole electrical system of the aquamist system burns up.
The best part is I setup a map that can remove fuel and add timing when everything is working correctly. Here is the map:
The Y-axis represents the voltage% from the flowmeter. As long as the flow range is in my happy zone, it will remove 4% fuel which as a side effect adds some timing advance. If any thing bad happens, then the drop/increase voltage will hit my zero values and it will default back to my normal pump gas map. So if your out racing and your WI system craps out, you can finish the race w/ no issues (besides a little less power).
My boost map will work the same, increase boost as long as everything is working correctly and default back to my pump gas boost when something bad happens. Unfortunately, my XEDE harness, wiring, or my boost solenoid has an issue and I haven't go to try it yet.
The XEDE also has a lean condition protect in case you throw water instead of alcohol in. I use a 25%/75% water mix. I am not using the lean run protect currently.
