ARP Head Studs a Requirement?
Just wondering if everybody who runs alky kits here put arp head studs on no matter what or if they wait and put them on later; but just run a lower boost setting.

I think the W/I systems don't really necessitate head fastener upgrade. RPM/HP levels dictate so.
We'll see once others chime in.

Meth actually lowers cyl pressure, however most usually run meth to bump up the boost and timing that increase it once again.
At about 375whp I would move to studs.

There you go, Methanol Injection doesn't directly require stud upgrade, but since HP drastically increases with it (WI), so does the force on the studs.

Is there no difference between the VIII and IX studs? Would think with all the upgrades on the IX that they would include upgraded studs as well.

I don't think studs are required if you are just doing injection...I'm going to do mine with my cams/valvetrain.

So would it be safe to asume that once your WHP hits 375, not to mention RPM at 8000 rod bolts, the studs become under termendous stress - more than stock ones can handle.

so i guess they would be strongly recommended for an evo with 100% meth injection, 272's, boost control, etc (around 375-400 awhp) huh?

just to be in the safe side you rather put them on. You dont know dont the road your stock studs dont hold the HP you got and they might give up. Thats more money now if something happens to your engine. Rather be safe than sorry.

Does the factory service manual provide sufficient data for the R/R procedure?

No, 1x1 method is an unorthodox procedure that you will find acceptable no where.
We do it however along with many others.
