AIT and Alky Placement question
My nisei intercooler piping kit comes with a AIT sensor bung already installed that is pretty close to the throttle body, Can I have the meth injection nozzle right after this as close as the silicone as I can get it, or should i just install it right after the intercooler in the lower side and hope it doesnt throw off my AIT's too much?!
I plan on running maft-pro - any input would be helpful
here is a pic curtosy of www.nisei-evo.com

I don't know about everyone else but my nozzle will sit right in front of TB plate.
The further upstream (towards IC) you go, the MeOH will evap earlier (cooling effect) so you will get colder intake charge but less detonation quench.
The closer to combustion you go (TB) the methanol evaporation will occur durring combustion - better detonation control (my goal at least)
Remember this all depends on how effective the pump psi is and the grade nozzle - you dont want to place a nozzle that close to TB if it doesn't atomize well (I would assume all nozzles sold for these applications should do good though).
Another thing is - the more detonation your quenching with the kit (more boost, more aggressive tune) the bigger the explosion if something does fail.

I do not like the location of the IAT sensor. Meth will spray all over it giving a false cold reading and dumping fuel with your EMS.

Would your Question be: Would methanol, if nozzle down stream sensor (by QTB), provide bogus readings with sensor? Even though spray may not contact it, the radiant cooling may reach it.
Since the pipe will be difficult to dispose, adapt a nozzle in the bung and place sensor elsewhere?

Thatsmr2u2,
Are you kidding me?, no youdon't want the alky nozzle right after the intercooler on the lower intercooler pipe. The principle behind this is to get the mixture the colder the better.
Having the nozzle so far from the Throtle body would create higher temperatures and the alcohol wouldn't be as effective.
On the other hand you also must remember that your BOV is on the way, any turbulence is going to affect the flow and velocity of the mixture.
I would put it in the extreme case closer to the Throtle body after the Air temperature sensor but that is just my .2c.
There are many many people on this forum that I am sure they can recommend something better.

anyone else have any opinions on this...i'm also wondering were the ideal placement is, i asked a reputable tuner and he told me to put it under the part of the i/c pipe covered by the stock intake, or in that area.....

I will end up running the 3/8th air intake temperture sensor about 1 foot up the upper intercooler piping section (closer to the bumper, which is right after where the stock airbox would sit) and then Im going to run the 1/8th npt alky injection right after the final bend in the upper intercooler piping about 8 inches away from the throttle body! - hope that helps

I'm gonna revive this. Does anyone else have any input? It seems the most common place for the alky nozzle is right in front of the throttle body.
Does it matter of the IAT sensor is way down by the bumper, or should it be up further, after the BOV but before the alky nozzle?

you want your alky nozzle a distant away....its a point source injection, distance give it a chance for the mist to homogenize with the air so that hopefully equal amounts of the octane/latent heat of vaporization enhancing mist gets distributed evenly thru the 4 intake runners.
as long as the iat sensor is between the IC and the alky nozzle.....it is freezing cold when the alky is spraying
