Is Alky worth it on Stock Turbo?
I've really been debating whether I should upgrade to a 20g9 turbo before installing alky. Right now I'm running 22psi on the stock turbo and I believe 26psi is about as much as you can out of it. Is it worth it to get the alky and boost to 25/26 on the stock turbo or should I upgrade to the 20g9?
Right now I'm at 263whp on BR's Dyno. I would love to be able to get over 300 but after reading David's last Dyno Day post, I'm a little unsure now, even with the 20g9.
My current mods:
264/264
3'' TB
Headstuds
BR Intake/Batter Kit
Waldro FP
Greddy Profec EBC (22psi)
FMIC - Upper/Lower piping
Al - Custom Tune
263/259whp - BR MD
Stock Clutch (30,000 Miles)

"Is alky worth it on a stock turbo?"
Well depends...would you like to have 320+whp and 340lb.ft+ torque on a mustang dyno?

nver2old32,
Look at my signature, I have basicly the same mods as you plus SMC kit, look at my torque, that is easily at 415lb tq on a Dynojet.
I am going for round II in 3 weeks with methanol, new intercooler, new headers and HKS DLI II and I hope to make close to 400lb/tq on a Dyno Mustang on stock turbo.
To me is worth, as I mentioned in the past, the stock turbo maximize can talk face to face , toe to toe with some upgraded turbo kits.
If you want to see what the stock turbo could do in terms of power just wait 3 more weeks and look at my signature.
Also talking about boost, I peak 30psi and maintain 28psi at full throtle in 4th 5th and 6th gear. My car holds 22PSI past the 7000rpm mark

Carlos,
I didn't realize the stock turbo was able to hit 30psi? Do you think taking it that high will reduce the life of the turbo pretty quick?
If I go to alky, I would love to be able to boost 26/27 or more if I'm able to. This would save me some money in the short run without having to buy a bigger turbo with more lagg.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I'll get the alky kit and run it with the stock turbo.
I'm going to find out when Al is going to be back up to Buschur so I can get him to tune it for me. Hopefully I'll be able to get over 300whp on Buschur's dyno. You know what a heart breaker that dyno is.

Hey man are you running the stock headbolts or studs?
Also in nc alky is like 10bucks a gallon (thats cheapest i can find it) and meth is $2.50 a gallon at local gocart track, This might be why he is going meth, also Meth makes more power right?

I do have the upgraded headstuds. Also, is meth much easier to locate vs. alky? I would definately get meth for 2 or 3 bucks a gallon vs. 10 bucks a gallon for alky.
Do you run meth the same way through the alky kit? Or do you have to get a different setup?
Thanks for the feedback guys!

Man I am dizzy... Alky, and meth are both alcohol. They are likely the same fuels from those two locations.

Yes alky is worth it. Just check out my numbers with alky with max boost hitting 24psi tappering to 22.
The high number is running alky through the EMS and the first isn't. I had a tune with the flash but it just wasn't making power. So I went the EMS way and it helped out a lot.

Definately. I think all who use it would find it hard to stop. It's cheap and allows you to make a ton of power on "pump" gas!

Guy, I picked up exactly 50 awhp with the alky on the stocker with the dynojet. Thanks to Martin at AMS, you need to take a 4 hour drive and forget about it. 26-27 psi+ and loving it, with the hated UTEC. 116+ trap, do the math! PM myself or midwestmonster for details!
