Got tuned on 50% meth/50% distilled water and changing to a gallon of Denatured. Had the choice of getting tunes on 1/2 Denatured & 1/2 Distilled water which seems to effect the power in some way. I dont think a known tune shop would ask me if I wanted to be tuned on Denatured or Meth if there was something to worry about.

fromWRXtoEVO: I will let you know if I see any changes in the knock values as I go in WOT. I have the knock light blink intermittantly every 3 knocks and usually when empty, I have excessive knock when in WOT as well as after 5000RPM. When running 100% meth I get no knock. Im running 272 cams and tunes to 26PSI. If I get knock after 4-5K I will assume the octance level is not enough or as specific to when using what I actually got tunes for(meth/distilled).

I would not drink even the purest methanol. It will kill you right after destroying your sight. Ethanol is what is in moonshine etc.

Denatured alcohol is predominantly ethanol, but with methanol mixed in to make it toxic. Hence the name de-natured. Keeps it legal for sale if you dont have a liquor liscense.

fyi methanol isn't always the de-naturing agent in denatured alcohol. it can be anything poisonous including gasoline.

correct. To "de" nature ethanol/alcohol is to simply add any chemical that makes it unfit for human consumption. Over the years different companies have denatured straight ethanol with different chemicals based on different uses. That being said, the most common denaturing chemical that I have seen is methanol.
