trying to control flow rate by varying pump duty is just a stupid way to do things.

There is a chemicals place here in La Crosse where I was told I can get it for $4 a gallon but I'm not sure if it is as good as the VP stuff. The JR dragster I have for Austin runs straight meth and I'm planning on getting methanol injection. I will try to give the guy a call that I bought the dragster from and see what I can do to get the price and availability firmed up.

I've read the extra additives in windshield washer fluid can leave residue when it dries. However, I have also seen this with methanol. The stainless tank that is on my son's JR dragster has a white residue after it dries and the guy I bought it from told me to run it completely out.

I currently run that Denatured alchy from Home Depot, but it is sooo expensive so I plan on ordering a small drum of VP M1 Methanol.....

My question is: I am going for a tune right before I put my car away for the winter, I sitll have some of that denatured alchy left. If tuned with that and starting in the spring I use M1 is it going to throw the tune of or not even noticable? Reason I ask is because no point in ordering it now, but I will run it because it is much cheaper than denatured alcohol.

Is the residue stuff something we should worry about? I mean....unless I run the tank dry and leave it empty for a few days ... maybe

basically the tech grade methanol 99% from chemical place should be good enough, you are not drinking it, just burning it up. Good price tho!

I really can't say what effect the residue will have on the injection kit. I'm thinking it may be a good idea to disconnect the injection hose from time to time and run water through the system to try and flush it out if you see any residue. From what I saw of the residue, it is a chalky white powder. I am also wondering if the higher quality VP methanol has the same residue effect. It should be fine with other parts of the engine as there will always be enough gasoline blend.

Is it a 50/50 mix or straight methanol? Also there is no aluminum in contact with the solution right...like the cap on the SS bottle...?

His dragster runs straight methanol. The bottle appears to be completely SS. The residue I saw was toward the bottom of the bottle where a little bit had puddled. I can also see it some in the transparent fuel lines.

I am pretty sure methanol is methanol. I dont think it should honestly matter as long as it isnt diluted. Every place I called has 99.5-99.9 pure methanol which is just as good as VP's from what I can see. I may need to pick up some meth when i drive down that way. I still cant seem to find anything here in Madison Ill let ya know how the car does with the meth.... so far it seems 30psi on my baby turbo works ok so it should be pretty fun times.

That is a good question. Everyone talks about $3 a gallon of alcohol and all that but like you said, I also saw the alcohol at Home Depot for $11.
