Definitely looking forward to seeing testing of this unit happening by someone somewhere, looks like it has potential
That's correct. It shares the same turbine wheel specs as the hta3786 and the 3794. I'm far less concerned about seeing flow data as I am with spool characteristics ...

OK - reason I mentioned that is you said it will fit between the HTA3586 and PT6466 in flow, however the turbine wheel is proven at least on par with the PT6466 and the compressor is indicated so far to potentially be comparable... if all is as it cracks up to be it really could be a pretty exciting unit!

The PT6466 is a hell of a thing, be pretty exciting stuff if it has some solid competition

If the Super 94 did not make the 3794 obsolete, this turbo definitely will.

Doesn't the PTE 6466 already do that?

It does, but not with Garrett reliability or a tial vband hot side option.

+1 For Tial V-band

Do you guys think the 0.82 A/R option would still make it spool fast and get you to 3794 or PTE6466 power? Or would the 1.03 A/R option be a wiser choice?

I wouldn't go larger then an .82 on a 2.0L IMO.

That is understandable. But for 2.3s and 2.4s a 1.03 A/R would be more beneficial?

I'll step in since I have personally ran both housings on an 3586 and say that the 1.03 housing is not necessary unless your running nitrous or trying to squeeze every last drop out of the turbo. The .82 is plenty

I've just heard that this turbo will still get outspooled by the PTE6466
I'm hoping that this is not true... I need Tial in my life....

Who has said that, is it from testing, solid theory or Precision fanboi (or seller) logic?

In all fairness I do think FP are pretty brave throwing down the challenge naming it after the Precision turbo - the Precision unit is the one to beat in this class, for good reason. I would guess that best case scenario would be that this comparison goes like the 6766 vs HTA3794, the PT6466 spools a little better and the 6466TZ makes more power.

The info came from an automotive scholar, and his hypothesis was extrapolated merely from numbers and experience with products from both companies.

But yes, I agree with you on the 6766 vs 3794 comparison. I'm betting it will be something of that nature as well.

The question is, would the top end that the 6466TZ (supposedly) produce compensate for the narrower powerband?

We need comparisons ASAP!
