No support for UTEC makes me sick!

I'm getting tired of this product. Not so much the product itself but the lack of support from the TurboXS and most importantly the lack of support from the Evo community. Every time I check the TurboXS UTEC threads there are nothing but people wanting to sell their units rather than people sharing their experiences and tuning knowledge. Whoever knows how to tune with a utec, you can help the value of the utec by sharing your knowledge here. Maybe if more people knew how to use their UTECs more efficiently, everybody won't be in such a rush to get rid of their UTECs dirt cheap. We can start with maybe a tutorial of some sort???

Drives: 2006 Evo IX MR

i would love to have a utec. its everything im looking for. i dont need a full stand alone system for my car. im not building a 900hp race car. i just want something practical. and the utec has everything i need. tuning, launch control, flat foot shifting, meth injection failsafe, 5 maps you can switch on the fly, ect.

i want to buy one, but im still waiting to find out if it will work a an evo 9. turbo xs will not answer my emails. and vivid racing said they dont recommend it for my car which sucks cause i really want one. hopefully i can find something out so i can purchase my utec. anybody know if it would work?

Ive made a few. Look back about 3 years in the threads though. But I must say with the lack of support it turned a lot of people off of the product, especially with ECUflash on the market its more economical to go with the reflash software than the UTEC. I even have the Tuner Pro WB sitting in my garage, I cant even give that thing away since people seem to cringe at the name TurboXS. For the 2-3 years I had one on my car I had good results, I taught myself and with a little help from MJ I had a dynamite tune. But with going to the 3065 2 years ago I didn't get the power I wanted. I am by no means knocking it but its far outdated and with people moving to bigger turbos all the time this isnt a good tuning solution anymore.

Now sounding a bit like a hypocrite I use the ECU+. IMO the logging is far better than the UTEC, more options are avaliable and the software is always being updated. I think the ECU+ logs better than any of the ECU logging programs out there, its extremely quick to update your tune. And now it can be used in conjunction with ECUflash. So in all reality I have the best of 2 worlds.

But fi you ever need some help with it, I still have all of my programs. (Maptracer, WB02 converters, all of my old write-ups) and I will gladly share them with you if need be.

As far as I know the UTEC will NOT work on a IX.

This thread right here sums it up for the UTEC users. Started in 2005 472 replies 19,300+ views. I bought the UTEC for one reason the promise of speed density and updates. The Subies got the speed density while the EVO community got the hose. I wouldn't recommend Turbo XS to anyone. I can do anything the UTEC can do with ECUflash and you won't find any better support than on the ECUflash forums. Just read through there sometime and see how people from all over the world are contributing.

Just stumbled on this thread. I sold my Utec a while back. TXS sucks, bunch of dick teasers with those updates. I finally got smart about it and bought a AEM EMS, haven't looked back ever since.

Hey man, I understand that you are frustrated and all, however the UTEC is only one tuning tool. It's just like anything else in life, you get out of it what you put in to it. If you like it, keep experimenting with it and pushing the envelope. Be an innovator and a pioneer...don't sit back and wait for someone else to take the risks. If you want to keep the utec alive then keep posting content and make useful discoveries about the unit. If people want to dump the utec for something new/different/better/worse, then that's their perogative. If the utec doesn't do it for you then find something that will....there's plenty of choices out there, choose one (or don't) ...afterall, it is your car, so do with it what you want...but most of all have fun !!
