Just purchase use UTEC need help

I just purchase a used UTEC from ebay. Just top it up i only saw the manual and the UTEC. There are no serial cable, accessory plug and 9 volt adaptor. Do you know where can i get those parts from. What is the first thing i should do on the UTEC. Just plug into my evo or check for the old data and upgrade the version?
I have no idea right now what to do with it. Also it is ok to use it with the HKS EVC VI. I will be putting the 20G 10.5 in when I figure this out.
Please help me out.

Here's some quick answers that might help:

Serial cables are available at almost any computer specialty store - even Best Buy - get a 3ft one unless you plan on tuning from the back seat :-D

the accessory plug might not be necessary for your set up - at least initially. I think that the back of the manual has the part number / description and source.

Deffinitely check the UTEC out first BEFORE you put it in your car just to be safe.

You can easily build a 9 volt adapter - just make sure you get the ground correct on the plug - try the manual - I think that it's there - if not let me know I can get it for you if no one else responds.

TXS website will have the latest firmware version - I think that it is best to run with the latest version - at least I do.

Connect to it with a computer using the 9 volt battery option to do any upgrades and initial fooling around with the UTEC's interface

BE Sure all of the parameters are set to TXS defaults - I believe they are available as screen shots in the manual.

You can use the HKS Boost controller, but recognize the UTEC has it's own available. If yours is already in place - I'd leave it. The UTEC closed loop boost control can be a pain to set up ... trying to get everything that you'd need etc ... to do it right - but it's a worthwhile adventure down the road - if it works out for you, you can always sell the HKS, but that one does look like a pretty nice boost bontroller.

You will likely use the the Electronic Timing function and the Open Loop Fuel control section of the UTEC

The logging is great - as is the switchable map feature

I set up the shift lght feature and love it - it's really simple if you have never done one - once you do one set up - you can do them in your sleep - but of course you only need to do it once :-D

I don't use my UTEC with a custom Flash - so if you go that route there are others that can describe the advantages - look up MalibuJack's posts - he is the uncontested, Hands Down Guru of the UTEC - I'd put money on the fact that he knows it better than the guys that made them - or at least how to use it to it's greatest benefit.

Good luck - feel free to PM with any questions etc...

for a 20g your honestly better off with a flash and buying a aem wide band. but that just my opinion, i ran the UTEC for about 6 months then dumped it cause i couldnt get what i wanted outta it. ( speed density). just a thought.

I run it in conjunction with the ecuflash and love it, its very nice to be able to switch maps on the fly and convenient if you run things like methanol and nitrous and such...

I thought about this later:

The 3 ft serial cable might be a little short, I have a Tuner Pro in the center dash which is hooked up with the UTEC and what I connect to, so eye up the distances involved before you buy one. They are probable only available in 3 or 6 foot lengths.

You might not be able to hold the laptop while you are in the drivers seat making changes with the 3 ft cable - ( NOT while you are actually driving, of course :-D
