The Utec has the capability to store several different fuel/timing maps. If you already have a Utec, and have it tuned for pump gas, then an easy flick of a switch will bring up a different fuel/timing map that you can use for race gas. Obviously, you will need to write new fuel/timing maps to take advantage of the higher octane fuel, but once you have the maps, all you do is flip a switch when you want to change between pump/race gas.

ok is it like the srt-4's with their high octane mode where it will kick them out if they dont have high enough octane for the amount of boost. does the utec have something like that. and say i use race gas and im done with high boost and i still have race gas in the tank can you flip over to a pump gas map and everything be fine?

No It is not like that. It will not kick you over from one map to the next. You have to switch it.

In the case where you would be on your race gas map and have pump gas, the only thing in the UTEC that will provide some protection like that would be to set up the knock sensor fields to add fuel and/or take away timing in the event of the knock threshold exceeded. But remember that as soon as the knock count goes low again, the fuel/timing goes back to what it was, and then most likely the knock count will go back up again. So if you see your CEL blinking (knock warning) then it's time to check your map selection.

As for the other - race gas on the pump gas map, you should not have any troubles with that. You just won't be taking advantage of the race gas properties.
