OK, we're on a roll now.... We've got Jestr and the dyno ready to go for Jan. 20, and 19th if needed.
To keep this organized, and so that I can modify the first post of the thread, I'm going to start a new thread called "Jestr Tuning Day in Texas" in this same sub forum.
So here's where we're at, Jestr needs a $100 deposit via paypal to get your name on the tuning list. I'll need $100 deposit via paypal to get your name on the dyno list. The tuning list and the dyno list should match!
Jestr's paypal: jestr@jestrtuning.com
dubbleugly's paypal: badanna@earthlink.net
The final day to get your money in is Jan. 5, that'll give Jestr time to make flight arrangements and get a decent deal on airline fare, plus if we cancel for whatever reason after that date, I lose my $250 deposit on the dyno.
The way I'm approaching dyno time is...... based on Jestr's input, a stock turbo'd car (single map) will need about an hour. A stock turbo'd car with multiple maps, or a car with upgraded turbo/injectors will need closer to 1.5 hrs, and cars with more than that, 2 hrs. This is for scheduling purposes only! Real times will vary, and that's how we'll determine how much you owe. So please post when you've made your deposits, and your list of mods and preferred dyno time so that I can keep the list of people straight.

I'm not trying to take over or anything, and I know this thread started out of Austin, but I'd be willing to get it all organized if we do it at EngineLogics. It doesn't look like we've picked a date or a dyno yet. I can work with Chris (EngineLogics) and John (Jestr) on an acceptable date in January, I'll front the money ($1400) for the dyno and we can organize all the details from there. Keep in mind, it'll be $350 for the tune and an ADDITIONAL amount of money for the dyno time, just depends on how quickly Jestr thinks he can turn the cars. The going rate at EngineLogics for dyno time is $175 per hour.
That is of course, if people want to do it in Houston. Does anyone have an update on the Henderson dyno? It always seems things don't go as planned, and I can see the dyno install at Henderson hitting delays with the holidays and the weather, while we sit here with our thumbs up our a$$ waiting.
I'd rather get this done sooner than later.

I might be in on this, but I will not really know untill around January 15th (car will be getting some installs). It might be a last minute thing, but I hope I'll be able to join the party.
Oh, by the way, just wanted to let you guys know that the new Dyno Dynamics at Henderson Performance is up and running . I confirmed this today.

First off when I left the shop there was a ticking noise but he said that was normal clutch chatter. 150-200 miles later I get a horrible whining noise from my TC. I call them and ask what fluid they used. He told me Synchromesh with TX-7 additive. I told him that Synchromesh will ruin my tranfer case and it probably already too late. He then told me he uses it in 650hp EVo's and I'm barking up the wrong tree with my concerns about the fluid. I immediately stopped driving until I switched out for OEM but it really was too late.
At this point I didn't have my invoice yet for the clutch job, and I ask him for it. He sends me an invoice for the clutch job with remarks that my transfer case appeared to have excessive wear. He said that he based that opinion on the metal flakes on the magnetic drainplug, which I would bet were the normal amount for a first time fluid change. The transfer case did not make any noise at all before he ruined it, no ticking, no whining, no anything. Basically I'm sure he put the comments on after we spoke about the noises.
Fast forward to today. He refused to be responsible for the damage, and I ended up having to pay 4k at the dealership. With the new transfer case there is none of the ticking that he said was clutch chatter either. 4k wasn't enough money to me to warrant getting a lawyer involved, but I am still pissed.

I had several problems with my Chrisk build. He also lied and tried to point fingers at everyone else but himself each time something went wrong.
I spent over $10,000 and had my engine rebuilt by him twice in 12 months and this is how he treats his customers. I even sent my entire car to him for the 2nd rebuild so there could be no issue of who was at fault (or so I thought) and he still tried to blame other people. He actually insinuated that the shippers unplugged my IAT sensor and re-routed my vacuum hoses, because there was no way he could have made a mistake. WTF!?
You can get an overview from here:
http://www.mr2.com/forums/feedback/T...tml#post148460 (scroll down to post #7)
All of the original details are here including Chrisk’s responses where he very clearly tries to point fingers and place blame on others even when it is very clear that he made the mistake:
http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=218702
http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=219987
http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=220899
http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=221414
Moral of the story is stay away from Chrisk and Enginelogics until he cleans up his act.
-Scott

Well the shop may be sketchy, but at least we know the dyno itself is legit, it shouldn't concern us to much right Zeus?
I mean I understand, I've been BURNED by many shops unfortunately, but the fact that one like EL offers a service we need that won't have their hands directly in the mix should keep us in the clear you know?

That's a pretty broad statement considering Texas has a lot of dynos compared to the likes of...Kentucky, Iowa, or maybe even New Mexico. My point is, not every shop can please all of their customers 100% of the time. That is entirely implausible. So, does every shop have dirt on them? My guess would be, yes...including guys from Boyd Coddington to the Shade Tree Mechanic. Sad, but true.

If this were me I think I would be puking myself inside-out and have thoughts that would land my a$$ in prison, if acted upon. Unfortunately, this is an inherent risk of modifying our cars and who is to absorb the responsibility?
