Slow reply/quote times.

Why does it seem like it can take anywhere from 30 seconds up to 2 minutes or longer to reply to a topic, or quote someone?

Just curious.

been like this for at least a couple months from what i have noticed.

is it thread related? perhaps like in the pittsburgh thread its like 800+ pages and slows down server response time? This time it was instant but i just attempted to in the pittsburgh thread and it took 32 seconds

I just tested it on the "Attention Post Whores" thread in OT, (24,000+ replies), I tried to quote someone and it was taking about a minute, I just gave up.

So, it looks like you're correct. Longer/larger the thread, longer it takes to quote/reply. I learned something new.

huh, I guess that's true. I was trying to quote someone on the Las Vegas Evo's topic, and it takes 2+ minutes. Any smaller thread is 1-2 seconds. I always wondered what the deal was, Thanks!

Correct....we seem to find this mainly in OT and the Regional local chat threads. We have brought this up to the tech guys, but I'm not sure if a practical solution is possible right now..

My personal suggestion. Threads that surpass X amount of pages (or data usage based on the amount of pictures that are required to be loaded) be possibly closed and a duplicate thread (with a # 2 at the end) be started where the last one basically left off. This would leave archives of information if needed to be searched, but then, the new updated thread would be quicker.

Thats just my 2 cents, I really dont know anything about how this stuff works, i just like to look at it on EVOm all the time

Since most of the threads where this is an issue are basically chat sessions, the necessity to quote isn't as high as technical threads where you want to reply on a specific post.

That said, it is an annoyance, but we may need to start limiting thread sizes. It was not an issue in older versions of vB but the newer versions are doing something different with their quoting.
