I realize it's a bit early to announce an event like this, however, given that the summer schedule gets very hectic for many of us, I wanted to get a firm date out as early as possible.

I've been talking to crewdawg130 and we figured Rockingham Dragway would be an ideal venue for a consolidated NC/SC Evo/Lancer meet. We don't have to reserve a site or collect money from everyone, just show up if you want and pay the entrance fee.

As you can see on the map, Rockingham is centrally located to five of the more populated areas in Carolinas, namely Raleigh/Durham, Greensboro/Winston-Salem, Fayetteville, Charlotte and Columbia. That makes it a fair location for a large percentage of Carolina Evo/Lancer owners.

Please get the word out, and more importantly, mark your calendars guys.

Also, thanks to SASD209 for making this thread a sticky.

I will definitely try to make this. I'll just have to load up a few 5 gallon jugs to make sure I can make it back home lol.

Anyone know how strict they are on safety requirements?

They're not strict at all, at least during the times I went. One rule was that if you're car runs under something like 13 seconds you have to wear a helmet, but no one from the staff was enforcing it at all. It's pretty laid back.

I will say the facility, while not brand new by any means, is very good. The track surface is well maintained and offers plenty of grip. I hit 13.8 on my bone stock RS in hot/humid weather conditions. They have a concession building with burgers/fries/drinks. Best of all there is ample parking for us to congregate together, as long as we don't all show up too late.

Your location says Chicago? That's a lot of gas money, lol.

Did you move down to NC recently?

Ok, then make it a point to come out to the meet! Even if you don't drag race your car in the 1/4 mile, you'll still get to meet dozens of other Evo owners.

Hope to see you there.

Yeah...not so much.

Seriously though I think I will run the 1/4 mile myself, we should lineup and race at Rockingham.

Just want to reiiterate that this will be a laid back event. All we do is show up and hang out and you can run the 1/4 mile if you want. It will be a success regardless of whether 10 owners show up or 50.

I'm debating on running myself, or taking my Canon and videotaping some of the runs.
