BW ET50 Trim Dyno

Car put together by VIP Garage self-tuned:

This is the Borg Warner Extended Tip 50 trim (S256)

502 awhp / 501 tq

The tailpipe sniffer was a little lean and slow. I'm actually running 11.3 after peak boost. I had them kill the run at 7k, since I haven't confirmed my tune beyond 7100 rpms.

Mods:
Borg Warner Extended Tip 50 trim turbo (ET 256)
2.3L stroker
HKS 272/272 (+2,-1)
Manley springs/retainers
Spiking to 31.5 psi holding 30 psi tapering to 29 by 7k
Snow performance 100% methanol
Buschur Race FMIC
VIP Garage exhaust manifold
HKS RS Intake
Sun Hyperforce
PTE 880cc injectors
(..more)

I have a fairly conservative tune with low timing at the top. More to come once I feel comfortable enough to take it to 8000 rpms, turn up boost, and tune.

Glad you're happy with the car and it's running up to potential. It was a long, difficult road, and you certainly deserve it.

Thanks.

In the graph you'll notice a little dip at 6000 rpms. There were 2 counts of knock right there. I haven't seen the 6k rpm leanspot in a while, and it manifested itself on that pull. I've since tuned to correct. I'm going to attempt to have the spool hold longer. When I was on stock block, I had the boost hold 30.x all the way to 7800 rpms.

VIP Garage has all the specs on the turbo and setup. They're contact info is in Juice's post.

As for the spool, the turbo does spool slower than other BW ET50 trims on 2.3L stroker. I've seen another S256 on here with cast manifold spool a lot faster. We decided to go with a larger exhaust manifold and AR housing in hopes of maintaining the torque longer.

did u actually record knock at those spots or is that just speculation? just wondering cuz a lot of dyno graphs look like that.

I actually recorded knock in that spot. According to my logs I hit 29.98 psi at 4554 rpms.

Why don't you tell them how many months, that's right, months you've spent total tuning for these #'s

Great #'s Seyla. I'm very impressed.

I spent months trying to tune it for the stock block. I just got the 2.3L installed, and it took me about 1 month to tune it. I self-tune on the street, so pulls for me are hard to come by. However, I do like to work all the knock out of my tunes, even the 1-2 counts during spool up. I also spent a lot of time dialing in my 2.3L for daily drivability.

I have HKS 272/272 CAMs at (+2,-1) and my car has barely a hint of lope. My exhaust is fairly quiet around town. I live in Virginia, so that's a must. It's been a lot of work, but I enjoyed every minute of it. I'm still not done with tuning this setup.

Later I will be tuning for a (-4,-1) setup for the strip.
