AMS Teams up to build a Standing mile EVO

One of close friends and customers Tommy P has decided to build a REALLY cool car for a unique form of racing. Tommy is no newbie to motorsports either. You might remember his red evo from a past sport compact car ultimate street car challenge. His car dominated just about every event until he had an oil pump failure on the last leg costing him the event.

Hes not one to be defeated though as he now brings his pride and joy to AMS to help team up with us on building a MPH monster! The car just showed up today but you can already see its got some nice work done to it. I will keep you all updated in this thread as we modify this monster for some standing mile competition and to even compete on the Bonneville salt flats!

Beautiful... With those meats and brakes I was thinking Ummmmm road race/ top speed car...Then I saw the chute. Brakes like that must be used on the roadcourse.

Awesome project to undertake! I just finished reading Car & Driver's 0-200 MPH-0 challenge and was impressed by the figures those beasts put down....I can't wait to see the progress you guys make with this already sinister looking Evo!

Good luck with the build!!

Texas mile is a much cleaner track than maxton NC.. Only thing is the weather and winds allow you to go faster in NC in most cases..

Alright guys here is your competition. Last year at the SORC Mike Reichen with his EVO 2 went 215.9 on a 2 lane highway and let me tell you it was fun to watch him do it. Made me feel a little slow in my almost stock VIII. I can't wait till this August to see what people bring. Before last year the record was 201 so needless to say Mike shattered the old record.
