-4/-1 or -2/+1 cam timing? Same LSA. What will be different?

-4/-1 or -2/+1 cam timing? Same LSA. What will be different?

Hi team,

have been pondering what performance difference there will technically be between these two cam settings. The LSA is the same but the timing is different. What are the likely charateristics of each setting? Fairly familiar with the reviews of the -4/-1 setting but not sure on the effect of the change to -2/+1. Anyone care to theorise?? Thanks in advance.

Same basic smooth idle and moderate midrange response characteristics with broad powerband and a bit less emphasis on peak power (i.e. >5000rpm). This is assuming one is using HKS cams.

Thanks Ted. Yes this is for HKS (272/264) cams.

Viscious lord, you can try some searches as there are some pretty detailed threads out there with general information on cam timing and some testing of a couple of settings.
