When i pull my current map...this is what i see...

I plug in the cable, read from ECU and this is what i see. I can read all other maps fine except for mine. Hopefully someone can help me out.

Excel is currently down so i am unable to put it in a table. You should get the idea.

I got an error message that said "unknown file image".

BTW that file server sucks, I had to go through 4 screens just to D/L the file.

Hi

Well it looks like ecuflash dosen't have an xml deffinition for this rom image. JM9641 hasen't been posted at the openecu web site. If you can post some more details of your car, I'm sure it won't be to long before there is an xml for this rom. You could get a hex editor & do some serching yourself, using the Evo8 rom file that has alreadty been decoded as a guide.

Hi

Are you sure about the validity of there rom files? There are some maps at that same location as the stock USDM rom images, but your file seems to have some odd shapes to it. Please let us know your car, year modle eyc. Ya

I own a 2004 Evo 8 GSR. I really appreciate you helping me out, i've spoke to several people and no one has been able to get a hold of the situation. Please let me know if you need any more information.

Hi

As I say, the ROM image opens fine in Ecuflash. The Map offsets look to be the same as a standard Evo8, with the rpm/load scales at 67c0 & 6798 respectivly. The high octain fuel map looks to be at 33bd, but this map seems to have been alltered from what I would have expected to see on a standard Rom image. Have you had the ECU flashed?

On the 2004 cars after I have flashed the car you are unable to review the map with the current version of open ecu ecuflash.

I am assuming on later releases they will have additional "definitions" or what ever so you will be able to do so.

In the mean time any traditional hed editor will allow you to look at and edit your maps.

Anyone know where i can find more info on what program to use and maybe a small tutorial on hex editors? I'm assuming it cant be too hard so as of now im just going to do my best to figure it out.

No it was not intentional at all - note it only applies to some 2004 cars - BUT does not sound like that bad of an idea

Anyway - the reason why is becuase I have a version of 2004 softwear that was never applied to US cars which I have used on many 2004 flashes

I am sure it won't be long till they udate the XML files or metadata or what ever it is they use to cover these maps as well so dont stress it

There are dozens of free ones you can down load on line with a search. Your intuition is also correct it IS very easy to hex edit - in fact its so easy it practially edits itself.

Hi

I can read your file using the 96420008 xml deffintion file. If you delete the xml your hex file is currently using, closed ecufalsh & reopen it. The program should then ask you for a new deffinition, from the drop downlist select the inherits from 9642008. Fill out the next set of boxes & it should be done.
