Exclamation Another MR Stg 1+ 91oct with XEDE map inside

From yesterday.... big body builder who could crush me with his pinky came in for a stage 1+ install and tune on his brand new MR (with 400 miles on the odo). In fear, it was tuned to the best of our ability.

Attached:
HP/Torque (stock vs. 3-4 runs of custom tuning)
Boost/AFR (stock vs. 3-4 runs of custom tuning)
Final XEDE map (91oct). For all those MR folks out there, feel free to give it a shot! 100 extra whp at 7000rpm!!

Cheers,
shiv

ps. wow.. i now have the technology to post custom-tuned XEDE maps.

Shiv,

Doesn't it run richer than how you tune your '03 EVO? Is it because of the 91 octane?

91 oct does warrant a richer AFR. But readings will also be affected by the state of the wideband AFR. They tend to read leaner the older they get. Just something to think about, i guess

Power curve

See Shiv, this is what I'm talking about. Past 6000 prm, it starts to fall so fast you might as well shift there. There is a little hill at about 5600 or so and it should keep going up from there to redline. What will it take to get that? Is it flow limitations of the head, the exhaust, the turbo? I would expect power to keep building past 5500 rpm. I will call you for direction and advise.....didn't mean to highjack your thread.

What you're seeing is, unfortunately, the limit of the stock turbo. If you want that curve to keep on truckin', you'll need to fork over the cash for a larger snail. Even with the larger hotside, the Evo's stock turbo just doesn't have enough oomph to make power past 6K rpms ... now a GT35R on the other hand...

A GT35R can make alot more power up top, but u forgot that everything has a compromise. Generally, when u gain power on one part of the power band, u lose some at another place. With a larger turbo, u lose alot of low end torques. I got the AMS gt35R and to sum it up, I like the stock turbo better. Going to swap out for the 3071S later. Peace....

stock turbo limits

Thanks for the answer. I guess I will have to wait and save up for the 20G or equivalent. I do not want to loose too much low end, but am willing to sacrifice some for a more linear power delivery with more power under the curve above 5500.
