RS model info from Car & Driver
Just got my C&D in the mail. It says..
The RS is coming in January. No sound deadening material, no ABS, no HID, no A/C, no stereo, no power windows, no rear window wiper, no vanity mirror, no rear wing. Saves 150 lbs. Includes a helical front LSD, 5 speed, same motor, cross bar bracing in trunk, black mirrors & door handles. Cost is slightly over $26k Only available in red or white. Mitsubishi expects to sell 700 in the US.

i'd rather have the ACD and YAW sent over then have my car stripped of it's goods... The front lsd isn't going to do much of anytihng there is already too much traction on the front tires and not enough power routed to the rear... STi's got things straight with their DCCD

Definitely not a car for everyone. It is a great base for a racecar though. It makes sense to buy an RS if you plan on using it for racing. The cost savings is a plus also for those wanting to build a track car.
I wonder if it will be classed the same as the regular Evo in Solo II I can just see the ranting from Camaro owners now when the see a well prepped Evo RS cleaning up ESP.

Wrong picture?
*edit, ah, was expecting picture of vehicle...gotcha now
I wonder...700 of these will make it to America, I wonder how many of them will sell for sticker and how many of them will get ungodly mark-ups...
One thing I can say, I'm glad I have one with all of the amenities I don't think I could live without power windows/locks and AC

They take the evo, strip it, add front lsd (bfd), offer it in only two colors, and only take 150 pounds off in the process.
Why would anyone buy one???
(now if it was 500 pounds off and any coice of colors I would be sooooo there )

Why would anyone think taking those items off would be more than 150lbs? Anyone that doesn't understand this car obviously doesn't have any interest in a stripped car for race use. It is along the same lines as the Cobra R or some other factory race cars that are lighter weight and stripped of unnecessary things needed on a racecar.
150lbs and a front lsd are nice features for someone looking to race in stock type classes where you can't deviate much from the factory car.
The appeal will be for those with pure performance/racing in mind.

If I didn't already own one I'd pick the RS at $3k less money and better performance due to less weight. I don't know if EVO's will ever become collector cars the way Corvettes are but for any car the ultimate performance model always holds their value the best. If you're buying it as a toy and don't need the daily driver creature comforts the RS looks to be a better investment. Of course no car is an investment since they all depreciate but you know what I mean.
I wonder how the LSD affects the handling? The regular USDM EVO VIII already handles great. Guess the LSD would be a must for someone who planned on racing gravel roads. Does anybody know whether the RS uses a different clutch?
