Hey guys.
Im very excited at the amount of enthusiasm this post has received.
I want to fill you guys in with as much detail so you know exactly what you are getting. I dont want anyone to be disappointed.
-What you see here is for kevins race car. It is a prototype and its just a skin. I will come out with a version that mounts to the hinges and hood pins. So if you order something, it will be a little heavier, but we will try and keep it under 5 lbs.
-Flex should not be an issue. We will strengthen all the big flat portions with foam core to prevent flex.
-We will produce a hood when you order it. So please anticipate a 2-3 week wait.
-We use prepreg material. We are going to run an experiment to see what prepreg fiberglass looks like behind prepreg carbon. That should save $200-300 off the price. However, a full carbon hood will be available on request.
-Kevin asked me to name a price yesterday and I just shot one off the top of my head. Im going to go over my numbers and see if I can bring that down significantly. So for those of you who have already PM'ed kevin, please dont be discouraged!

3 lbs is ridiculous...I am def. looking forward to the street version with all mounting hardware...I would def. use some locking aerocatch hood pins with this hood...Looks great guys!

well my hood got all key'ed up. so i deff need a new one. and was about to make a move on a Robi spec one but after seeing how it flex's and bends when either open or at high speeds i decided to stay far away from it.
if you produce a hood that is strong and yet still lighter then stock do me a favor. send me a pm. i will take the fiber/carbon instead of a full carbon. im baller but not supa star baller. haha
how about a trunk????????

I wonder what the one Gurney's guys (AAR) built for the Sparco evo weighed? I remember it also was prepreg and autoclaved. Everyone freaked at the cost of them because very few people realized the difference between real carbon work (like this) versus wet layup with a fiberglass backing.

Nice - good to see some proper prepreg carbon action. I wonder how many jaws dropped at the price, prepreg aero-grade material is for big boys.

To the op what is your layup pattern you can get strength by
modifying that possibly just a suggestion, I am not sure of your backround or
training with this stuff so I fgured I'd ask and maybe could give some helpful suggestions.

I must say, the weighing method isn't exactly textbook. But the real point is made, quite a piece. And whats the price?

Damn I thought my Cwest hood was light haha. But I would be a little worried about the strength and durability. These hoods have to be able ti withstand an impact.
