About a month ago I saw a new shop open up down the road from my house, I mean I can walk to this shop within 10 mins!! lol Thought it was pretty cool to have a shop so close figured I would have to check it out @ some point in time. Over the past couple of weeks I saw some real deal machines outside the place, Bulletproof Automotive/Top Secret's R35 GTR amongst some of them.
Being my evo has been down for well over a month due to a turbocrap DV, I got lazy with the evo and just let it sit till I could find a new DV and all. Finally came across a Tial for sale by a member on these boards. I had the Tial for a week being it had to be welded and wanted to get it done by a quality welder. I decide to take a drive down to Akuma Motorsports (Morganville NJ) and check out the shop. I was greeted by the Owner, John, and one of the mechanics there, Evan. I see 4 open bay doors with the Top Secret GTR custom TE37's, a sick ass 2009 WRX STI on the lift (John's car) and a brand spanking new mustang dyno. I knew this place was pretty serious seeing what they were working with. Talking to John I come to find out he's a former Cobb guy, does testing for GTR's and for other shops. This guys knows his ****!!
I explained to him I had a Tial flange that I needed welded on to my UICP and John told me it wouldn't be a problem and could have it done within the hour. I was like "awesome!!" I brought the flange down only to come find out the flange was stainless steel!! John made a few calls to try to find me an aluminum flange that night, unfortunately no one had one in stock. I ordered a new aluminum flange and had it the next day, and drove the UICP and flange over to the guys @ Akuma Motorsports. John was tuning my buddy Alex's Evo X and Evan began working on my UICP. I came back within the hour to see the completed flange welded on with some beautiful welds by Evan.
I'll get picks up of my UICP shortly as it's getting painted right now but I just wanted to say the guys @ Akuma Motorsports are the real deal. They took care of me quickly and profesionally and couldn't be happier with the service. I def know where to go if I need anything done on the evo.
