New Product - QTP 02 Housing W/ Dump Tube
I was able to get a hold of the new Quick Time Performance (QTP) 02 Dump Tube to test it. They are in the final stages of development for this product and it will be released soon but I wanted to post up my experience so far.
Here are a couple pictures.
QTP 02 Housing

QTP 02 Housing

QTP 02 Housing mounted on the turbo as an assembly
For those who don’t know, the advantages of an external dump 02 housing are simple, more power and better boost control. The waste air coming out of the wastegate no longer needs to be crammed into the downpipe with your exhaust gases. This means more room for the exhaust gases and more power. Because the wastegate gases have their own exit tube, you can flow more wastegate air. This means no boost creep….of any kind. This was the main reason I switched to an external dump housing in the first place. With the normal ebay 02 housing I could not run less than 26psi in 4th and 5th gear. Obviously that is not ideal for pump gas.
A couple critical design features of the QTP housing include the flange where it meets the turbo, and also the smooth transition down in size to the dump tube outlet. You will notice that the flange where it meets the turbo is the same shape as stock flange. Other 02 dump tubes on the market have two circular openings on the flange, while this looks good and is easy to make, it does not match the turbo. This means that the gases coming out of the turbo do not have a smooth transition into the dump tube. When designing the QTP housing, reduction of turbulence in the wastegate air was a primary concern. By having the flange match the outlet of the turbo, and also having the 02 housing gradually neck down, QTP was able to maintain smooth airflow out of the 02 housing.
I used to have an Ebay 02 housing which I had modified to include an external dump. I was never very happy with this solution as I knew the internal transitions were not as smooth as they could or should have been. Here are a few picture of my old setup.
QTP 02 Housing vs. Modified Ebay 02 Housing

Clearly this is not that smooth

Modifying an Ebay 02 Housing is a less than ideal situation
The build quality of the QTP unit is very solid; the pipes are made of high quality steel with a nice polish on them. As you can see my modified ebay unit looks, well… like crap, compared to the QTP unit. I installed the QTP housing with a Buschur RACE FMIC and LICP and Buschur exhaust, the unit fit fine. The wastegate dump is below the oil pan and places the dumped gases in a safe spot.
I will have dyno graphs before and after and a video to follow in about a week or two. I just wanted to show you guys what’s coming.

wow. looks like beautifully designed piece. any ball park on pricing ? i actually was waiting for them to release it sometime earlier this year but i didnt hear anything back from them. Then i heard of Evopowermods o2 dump housing and based on their dyno results and other countless pleased customers i went with them. Again, beautiful, well designed looking piece however it seems that the o2 dump market has been taken over by these gentlemen O2 Dump Housing from EvoPowerMods.com. Nothing like some good ole competition though.

Hmmmm, this will be interesting seeing as how EPM pretty much is dominating the o2 dump market right now.
Competition is always nice though!

Not sure about that, but I would just reuse stock gaskets. I have changed 02 housing at least 4 or 5 times and I am still on the stock gasket, there is really no reason to change it.
As for the donut gasket where the 02 housing meets the downpipe - I use a buschur DP, and they don't use a gasket. If you are stock, then just use the stock gasket, again it is very thick and does not really wear out easily.

Thats likely because they are the only ones who sell an 02 housing with a dump. Now that there is more than one product on the market, consumers can choose whichever product performs best.

That may be true for a regular O2 housing but this O2 dump housing needs a custom gasket with a divider to prevent exhaust gases to pass through the dump section or vise versa.

Do you have any data yet as to how this o2 housing compares with the epm o2 housing? Price, material used, craftsmanship, power gains, ect...

http://quicktimeperformance.com/Dumptube/
The qtp is made out of 304 stainless as well as the EPM, And right now with the pre-order special it is $50 cheaper than the epm housing.
And in my opinion i think the flange on the qtp is better than the epm as well.
So i'd say both products are both of good quality, just personal preferance is what it comes down to.

does this increase the sound of your exhaust? May sound like a dumb question but for those, like myself, who don't know or are concerned about a loud exhaust. Is it louder or will it stay the same?
