AMSOIL SSO 0W-30 Review after 6200 Mi.
Just got my 6200 miles Used Oil Analysis back from Blackstone Labs,
It came back great!
I have the file on adobe but I don't know how to upload it without showing some personal info.
After 6200 miles on a Wix filter, the oil held up great, and Blackstone recommended up to 7500 miles safely, which is awesome.
The oil costs twice as much as Full Syenthetic, but lasts over TWICE as long on ONE filter. That's great bang for the buck.
My car is a daily driver and mainly see's hard weekends at the strip, no tracking, so I don't know if that would affect anything.
From Blackstone:
"DEVIN: For some of us, the 03' Evolution 8 is "the" car. The universal averages column shows typical wear
from this type of engine after 3,793 miles on the oil. Your run was longer, but your wear rate (PPM/Mile)
was lower proportionately than universal averages. Silicon was low at 10 ppm, showing no problems at the
air filtration/induction system. The viscosity was low; reading in the high SAE 20W range, but that's not
really a problem since it hasn't seemed to have affected wear. Try going up to 7,500 miles on the next oil if
you want. Things should still look good."
If anyone knows how to mess with Adobe, let me know so I can post the sheet up.
Bottom Line, it's definately worth it to spend the extra few bucks on AMSOIL

And saw so many people running 6,8,10,12k oil changes on every kind of vehicle!
So I looked into it for my car and decided to try it.
After reading to see if AMSOIL lived up to the hype, I figured I'd try it and get an UOA done.
Well it convinced me and i'll be sticking with AMSOIL as long as they make great product.

Great results. I am just about to go through 3000 miles on the SSO 0w-30 and was going to send in for an oil analysis. But, I think I will wait until 6k.
At 3000, I am going to change my filter (stock Mitsu filter), and leave the oil in for another 3k, then do the analysis.
Did you get a TBN number in your test as well?

AMSOIL Air Filter On INJEN Intake/IC System
I have the Injen intake and I/C setup on my evo, and I just replaced the Injen air filter with an AMSOIL brand filter. The original air filter was just too filthy to even try to clean. This new one doesn't require that you clean it with any oils, which is definitely a plus. I'm wondering if this new brand air filter on an Injen intake system will cause any damage or loss of power because it's not "INJEN" brand. The AMSOIL filter supposedly works a lot better because it allows more air to enter and filters out a lot more of the grime. I just got it the other day and paid $65 for it, but now I'm deciding whether I should just order another replacement Injen filter. I'm not really feeling a difference either way. Is an air filter an air filter, or should I go back to the original part?
