KevinD FTMFW!!!

So, my car's been running pretty crappy lately and I've had a CEL for roughly 1.5 years (since my first custom tune). To make it worse, I had to get the car inspected for a fix-it ticket but only had two days to make it happen. I didn't want to bring the car to the dealership because they charge too damn much and I couldn't figure out why the car was throwing the P0500 code. As a last ditch effort, I sent KevinD an IM and prayed that the 4G63 would deliver.

Kevin was able to set aside some time for me on Sunday to take a look at the speed sensor and help me troubleshoot the issue. I cruised over to his place and he pulled the sensor to check its condition etc. Everything looked good so he cleaned it off a little and put it back in. I mentioned that the CEL had been there since the previous tuner's original tune so he hooked up the laptop and began to investigate.

I'm not familiar with the ECU Flash program but he was able to identify a couple of issues with the timing/fuel and boost maps. He upped the boost a little for me, flashed a base map, removed one of the boost pills, and activated the two step (which I had no idea I could do on a 2004!!). Not only did this clear the CEL and allow me to get the car inspected but it runs like a freaking champ! Seriously, the car definately felt smoother at first but it took another day for me to really feel the more noticeable pull. Before the flash, my car seemed to get slower as the temperature got colder which is very wierd for a turbocharged car. Now, the colder the better!

Not only was I blown away by the guy's ability to tune the car, but he is a true enthusiast. He not only took time out of his busy day to help fellow evom member eliminate a CEL but made my EVO feel new again. I am the kind of person that gives credit where credit is due and I can honestly say that I have never had a more positive experience with anyone else working on any of my vehicles. This guy will definately be getting my business going forward, sorry for the long ass nut swinging post but I think he deserves it.

Here's to you Kev
