FS: Like New 80mm FP Red w/ FP Oil Line
My 80mm FP Red is on its way back from FP after a complete disassembly, inspection, and rebuild, with all latest updates and improvements. They've certified it as in perfect working order. This is your chance to get a like new 80mm FP Red with the now-required FP oil line, supplied from the oil filter housing. If you're looking to buy elsewhere, be warned, FP does not endorse use of the turbo without this oil line (and may not honor a warranty). Also this 80mm is much better than the 65mm version which is prone to surging! I will happy to include, at no extra cost, a turbo outlet pipe if you are installing this on an VIII.
I paid $1950 ($1800 for the turbo + $150 for the oil line). I'm selling both for $1650 shipped.
SOLD
Please note, I do not have a WGA to go with this. If you already have a IX, this is not a problem, you can re-use your stock IX, Forge IX, or FP WGA. If you have an VIII, you will need to pick up a IX WGA for about $100 used or about $150 new.

With the problems people have had with the Red's, I wanted FP to give it their blessing before I sold it. They gave me the and updated it with all latest improvements.
The turbo is like-new from FP. If it gives anyone extra peace of mind, the turbo was NOT blown, and was NOT abused. It was on the car for 6,000 mi, with one trip to the dyno and one trip to the dragstrip. It saw now more than 29 psi.
But all that doesn't really matter since it was completely rebuilt by FP!

I didn't send a core in for upgrade, I bought it brand new, outright.

They are not publically published improvements, they are improvements to their own process and craftsmanship that increase reliability. This is straight from Brian at FP.
As with most any product, as it's lifecycle progresses, the craftsmanship improves. My point is, there are differences between a turbo that JUST came back from FP, and a 2 year old FP Red.

I love it! Even with the .82 A/R housing, it spools 30psi @ 4700rpm in 4th gear. I made 510whp on pump @ 30psi on a Mustang Dyno, and of course this turbo has room to go. That is up from 450whp on the Red at the same boost level, with no other changes.
I trapped 100mph in the 1/8th on the Red @ 450whp. Too bad the season is over up here. I'd have loved to have gotten one day with 60 more horsepower.
Next year I'll try a 34psi pump gas tune and a 39 psi race gas tune
