FS NM: Evo5 AWD converted 97 Mirage Sedan

I've decided to put my Evo 5 conversion up for sale. It's a 97 and I'm unsure of mileage at the moment but I think it's around 140k-ish. I'll have to check the title when I get home from work. The reason for the sale is because I snapped a rod with the 6262 turbo setup at 31psi on e85 and put a hole in the block. The sale of the car will come with another assembled Evo 8 shortblock that just needs to be swapped in. I'm guessing the head is fine since the spark plugs all came out without any issues, but not 100%.

The car will need the included evo8 short block installed and a replacement turbo setup. The 6262 setup has been sold. A stock Evo 8 turbo, manifold and o2 housing could be purchased for under $300. Otherwise, everything else stays and is sold as is. I converted the OEM Evo 5 harness for LHD use, removed the ABS and AYC wiring, and converted the harness for non-digital AC control (like the Evo 5 RS), and to use an Evo 8 ecu. Also added wires for the map sensor so the car is converted to speed density.

VIN: JA3AY26A7VU033181 Clean title. The car has some dents, dings, and scrapes that are common for a 15-16 year old car. Also have to consider that most of these body parts have been in 2 -3 different countries getting shipped around. The car will need a new windshield.

PRICE: $10k as is w/ a replacement evo 8 short block included. You'll need to source a replacement turbo setup of your choice. NO PART OUT so please don't ask.

If it doesn't sell in the next month or 2, I'll swap the short block in with a stock 8 or 9 turbo setup and the price will go up to $12-13k, or I may just keep it. I'm giving someone the chance to buy the car and save $2k as is, for a weekend's worth of labor of swapping the short block. It would cost a lot more money than what I'm asking to complete this swap, not to mention all the hours involved in the swap, problem solving, and sourcing/shipping of parts from overseas. I started with one of the nicest front clips I have ever seen available.

Thanks,
Sean

Here's a couple links to the build threads. There's over 100+ photos documenting the entire build from start to finish. Don't mind that the thread title says 99 Mirage. The maroon one I originally bought was a 99 but I found a nice white 97 in the process. It's all there in the build thread.

What kind of power did it make?

Thanks! Im sure I could squeeze a little more than 10k out of it to the right buyer, even more if I put the engine back together. But I'm pretty realistic when it comes to the resale value of modded cars. They're definitely not investments lol.

Im not sure how much power since it never got on a dyno. It was all street tuning. But being at 31psi on the 6262 .82ar turbo and e85, I'd guess close to 600awhp corrected dynojet numbers. We're a mile high here in Albuquerque. I believe the virtual dyno showed 480awhp uncorrected on a 3rd gear pull.

I cannot believe you are selling this thing. I have seen this car in person and has been done right. No corners were cut when this car was being converted. Sad to see it up for sale.

Nice conversion! Good price too, funny to think that most people on mirageforums would complain that it was too high, but it's definitely worth it. I can vouch for the cost of doing it, I still have yet to complete mine and I'm into it 10k not including the cost of the car.
I'd certainly consider it if it were running.

How far along is your conversion? They cost more than just buying an evo8 and the parts are getting harder to find. I'll start swapping the new engine in beginning of January if it hasn't sold by then. I have to wait until I move into the new house and get settled in before I can tear into it. But then the price will increase so im offering it as is so someone can save a few grand if they wanted to put the new engine in themselves.

This also gives someone the chance to build the evo8 bottom end im including to their liking.

I did the interior/exterior. I have a turbo Lancer engine in mine now... I had the 4G63 sitting around for a while, but I've never gotten around to dropping it in the car. Hope to do that sometime next year. Still trying to source trans/suspension/rear subframe.
You can check it out here... Been a while since I've done anything with it.

Looks good. I'm guessing the parts are fiberglass? You're most of the way there. The floor pan and the awd swap is the hardest and most expensive part

Thanks! I wish it was an evo6 rs2 as well lol. I agree it's a killer deal since I'm including a short block with it as well.

Thanks. If it isn't sold in a few weeks, ill get it running again. If you're willing to spend a little more, you can have a running evo5 conversion. I just figured I'd throw it up as is so someone can save some money doing their own labor. Plus it'll allow the next owner to build the block of they choose to do so, and choose a turbo setup to their liking
