I have a clear title in hand and the car will have to be towed. I flat out lost interest now and don't want to put anymore $ into the car. THIS IS A CASH ONLY SALE, NO TRADES!
According to Kelly Blue Book today the car retails for $23,245 and trade in value is $18,325Even if you have to pay full retail to rebuild the motor is would be around $5000. I am valuing the car at the stock trade in value of $18,325 - 5000 = 13,325.
$13,000 and its yours, work on it yourself or buy a used motor and you get a very nice car for $15-$16K well below the actual value.
On Sunday October 18th I was driving on the the freeway with the family at about 75mph (3000 RPM so) and the motor made a funny noise, I put the clutch in and it went away. I let the clutch back out and the noise came back for a few seconds and then the car shut down. From the time the noise started until the engine shut down was a total of 20-30 seconds.
The motor is seized up and can not be turned by hand, The number 4 cylinder sparkplug made contact with the piston and now the piston has a hole in it and the plug was smashed The other three cylinders appear to be OK. (as viewed with a flashlight looking down the with the plugs removed)
The best assumption at this time is that the rod or rod bolt failed due to fatique? I will drop the oil pan out of curiosity by this weekend but I will not remove the head as I just don't care to.
I am selling the car complete AS IS.....It will not be fixed by me and will not be parted or dissembled any further than the pan. This is so the potential buyer knows every single part is there.
The best assumption the buyer can make is that is needs a shortblock and some head cleanup at minimum.......again AS IS!
With that being said I am not removing anything from the car and am selling it complete, everything in the list below will be on the car when it is sold. EVERYTHING else works / worked fine until this happened.
The car has had about $15,000 in new parts this year alone (trans, transfer case, 4 new Brembo calipers installed only one week ago, Head work, new Evo IX steering wheel!!!!!!
The car had made 355whp on a Mustang Dyno on pump and 372 on 100 octane. It had also gone 11.5 @ 121......but with a broken motor that doesn't really matter
the car was also raced in NASA TTS and has a track record at Grattan in Michigan 1:27.1 when it was on race tires and coilovers...(it has never had a roll bar or cage)
