Rough book is about $20,500 on an 03 EVO at this point and dealers are not paying much more, if that. The auctions may be fetching a few more bucks, but prices are low and going down. Mitsubishi's historically have had absolutely horrible residual values. The EVO following helps but the Mitsubishi name doesn't help at all. I am glad we have a real value reported.
I would like to see what other people are offered or paid for their trade. Not a padded trade where they are paying too much for what they are buying and are in turn being shown more $$$ for their trade than they are really getting, but a real value trade.

Smart dealers taking them in on trade BACK of average..
The cars are in fact bringing more than that wholesale..
So if a dealer is calling this car at 19-20K
They aren't "stealing it"..
But they are close!

Yeah, what are you buying and what are they selling you the car you are buying for?
Ask them what they would pay for your car NOT TRADING. That is the real money.

What type of tax savings? When you do a trade, tax is applied to the cost of the new vehicle then the trade in is deducted. Are you saying that they took off the price of the trade in from the new vehicle and then applied the tax?

Maybe where you live. But in every state that I've either sold cars or bought cars, when purchasing a new vehicle, tax is figured on the difference price. i.e. the dollar amount after the trade value is deducted from the purchase price of the new car. That's the tax savings.

Really! CA really sucks now...not only do we pay 8.25% sales tax (L.A. County) but we have to pay the full value of the sales tax, not just the difference.

??
So what your saying is the tax is calculated on the selling price of the car you are buying BEFORE trade is applied??
Double check that ..

I just had a dealer offer me $17500 for my sigh unseen EVO. He quoted the price based on KBB FAIR Value minus $2000. I walked away. I was so pissed off I cannot even explain it. When I owe just over $24k that trade was like a joke.
I feel the only way to go with the EVO is to sell it your self. I feel I could get $23k easy for my EVO.

What do you think a stock 2003 EVO with CF wing and Sunroof is worth with 18,000miles and totally stock? My friend is thinking about picking one up just wonder what he should pay for a car like this with the miles it has on it?

What color? Believe it or not, this is important.
Are the tires replaced/new? With Advans?
Service history good? Certified or private owner?
If all good I would say it is $23,000-$24000 retail.
Wholesale is $20,000-$20,500 for sure.

Apex Silver the tires (Advans) have about 8,000 miles on them and are still in good shape. The service history is good has been in for the recalls and still has the factory warranty, and is offered by a private seller.
Thanks

If it is stock I would say 24k is tops for that car. If it has 8k on the Advans you can be assured you will be replacing them in at most 5-6k miles. You have probablya year and a half on the factory warranty and it has low mileage.
