Done!

I really liked the way mustangs looked too.

WestSideBilly Nov 15, 2004 11:08 AM

Bit much of a hood there.

The real question is what's going to be under the hood. Looks will be irrelevent if the engine is not up to par.

evo81 Nov 15, 2004 12:49 PM

what a big hood

Kelmar Nov 15, 2004 01:25 PM

Someone on the site said that it looked photochopped. I have to agree, it just doesn't look quite right.... :dunno:

masterevo Nov 15, 2004 01:29 PM

that's so ugly. Why cant they make it look like the GTR cobra? If so, then I'm game!....

That's the whole point... ;)

Doesn't look photochopped to me at all, looks like a real moving car. Reason for the big hood is probably a big engine. If that blown 5.4 is in there, that thing is meant for a truck and is huge so they need the giant hood to fit it in. I think they need a tad more work on the lower body to make the car closer to the ground and it'll be perfect (oh and the trademark SVT foglights in the lower fascia).

I don't think there's any way that the production car will have a big redneck hood scoop like that...even on a Mustang. That's most likely part of the disguise...if the picture is real at all.

Arithmetic Nov 16, 2004 11:11 PM

They went waaaaaaaaaaayyy to much oldschool with the new look. The old look was 100000000000000000000000000000x better than the current version.

Most likely. They probably are tuning the intake and needed extra room, and just stuck a huge hood on until the tuning is done. The final product will likely have a hood that's raised a bit but barely clears the top of the engine/supercharger - just like the previous SVT.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I prefer the new look much more than the old look. I saw a V6 model today on the road behind me, and even without the grill fogs, it was excellent looking. Ford really hit the nail on the head with this one. We'll see how it fairs in the reliability department next year, though.

Rez90 Nov 17, 2004 12:47 PM

i think it looks badass...i would drive one...and you know it's going to be fast as hell considering the current cobra is rediculous

nine4surfah Nov 17, 2004 12:54 PM

I doubt ford will produce future cobras w/that insane cowl hood.

psionic98 Nov 17, 2004 01:05 PM

sure it will be fast... but it will probably handle cornering like crap!

I hope you are wrong, but that is the $64k question. I've had a '97, '99, and '03 Cobra and had fun with them all but the chassis dynamics sucked pure unrefined azz. I'm hoping for a more complete package, at least the ergonomics are greatly improved as demonstrated in the '05 GT.

As for the motor, I have no doubt that it will be a brute. They improve every generation and my '03 was a straightline mauler.

You never know, look at the hood they put on the previous generation Cobra R.

doubtful that it will handle like crap. the D2C platform is designed to handle an independent rear setup as well as a live axle. And given the wider track base from where the front wheel was moved forward 5 inches, the car should be a lot more nimble than it's fox predecessor. The GT already has a fairly good weight distribution. I want to say it's close to 55/45, which is a massive improvement over the old 65/35.

But we'll see once a production model falls into the right hands for some proper thrashing and testing.

Turboholic Nov 17, 2004 10:25 PM

is that pic for real?
cobra should not have mustang symbol on the front?

it should have cobra instead,
500hp from factor, with little mods, it gets a match for viper.

....and I would like to add that all SVT models have big round fog lights in the outmost corners of the front bumper, kinda feature.

It'll take a hell of a lot more than just a hot motor to get a 'Stang to catch up to a Viper.
