I think (hope) that it is boosted. A na 2.0 boxer engine putting out 250? I can garantee it will be boosted soon after it is released I like the body style, though I'm sure that the interior will change. Those seats are crazy, and the zip open cd/dvd player?

If i didn't know any better i would say it was the new S2000 if i was jus looking at the front of it. It is a very nice looking design though and i hop they stay true to it. In my book the Gen Coupe is the sleekest coupe on the market right now. This might beat it.

I remember reading awhile ago that this will only be sold in the US under the Subaru badge; not Toyota.
I'm really happy to see the inexpensive RWD market growing again. So many exciting new cars coming in the next few years, it's going to make it really hard to pick one when I'm ready to replace my current DD.

Being a concept car, it likely doesn't work at all.

Yeah I know, i am just as excited to see that the RWD coupe market is growing. Just needs a few refinements in the body and I think it will be good to go.

They would not and they should not make it turbocharged, because the original AE86 was loved for its fun factor from its NA response, high revving linear power, light weight and weight distribution and spartan yet not hardcore or ghetto stripped,.
It was sold as Sprinter Trueno hatch or two door coupe, and Corolla Levin hatch or two door coupe. They weighed 925kg in two door coupe form, and 940kg in hatch form. 940kg is identical to complete base trim of Miata MX-5 when it was first released in 1989, but considering AE86 went in production in 1983, the MX-5 would be considered lighter for its time.
Considering that it was their entry level performance car in 1983 (think of it as Nissan Sentra SE-R of today's time), the features were quite amazing, disc brakes on all four wheels, macpherson strut front, 5 link rear (not sure if this is multilink or live axle), 1.6 liter producing 130PS with no forced induction (about 128bhp) that revs to 7400rpm, 5 speed manual and so on.
If they are using the same EJ207 as WRX variants, then all the owner needs to do is to drop the compression ratio with a thicker engine gasket and do a bolt on if he/she really wishes to go FI.
The price, weight and simplicity should be their top concern, but I really doubt that they can get it below 2900lbs. The last Celica can be used to make the rough guess, as it was the car that Toyota really focused on keeping the weight low and they just cut it under 2500lbs and that was back in 1999 using FWD layout.

Yeah, I heard that too, which seems odd since Toyota's new president is talking about how their company has lost touch with its fan base, I would think this is one way to earn some of them back. Still, the idea of competing head to head (and possibly losing) to Subaru in the American market is probably one hard pill to swallow.
Its a good looking car though, I like it.
