Bigger (Taller, Not Wider) Tires - Problems?

I posted this on one of the other Mitsu forums, but they do not get nearly the traffic that EvoM gets, so here goes.

I found a good deal on a spare set of wheels and snowtires for my 2003 Eclipse GS that I bought for my kids. The offset on the wheels is the same as stock, the tires though are 205/60/16.

The stock and recommended tires for the car are 205/55/16. If I did the math right (which I'm pretty good at math), the set of wheels and tires I am buying will be about 4/10th's of an inch bigger on the radius (8/10th on the diameter). Other than the effect on the speedometer, I think the radius number is key for fitament.

Seems to me this wouldn't be a big deal, but has anyone any experience (good or bad) running a slightly larger tire on an Eclipse (or any other car for that matter)?

Thanks

Drives: 09 MB C63 AMG, 07 VW GLI Turbo(DSG),06 Evo IX SE. 95 Eclipse GSX... Evos gone!

You will no find anything significant with that change. Only if you had a AWD car I will see that been an issue but not for a FWD Eclipse.

Minors changes but not signifgicant will be:

Taller gears (in all gears)
softer rides when going thorugh potholes on the road
Speedometer will be off by a tick
The tires will flex a just a little more on the tight curves because they are now a hair taller

Botton line, no reason to worry. My .2C

Thank you for the reply. I'm going to fit check them tomorrow, and purchase if they look good.

Doesn't make a big enough difference to even think about.
