I see you put the same thread on supraforums.com too. Funny how here it's tied and over there its 2:1 in favor of the C5.
If you don't care about power, want a fun, spritely, convertible, get a the s2000.
If you want a low, wide, powerful, unlimited potential, coupe, get the C5.
I've been in both and the s2000 is way too girly for me. On the other hand I hate the interior of a C5 and could never own one of those either.
C6!! That's my vote!!

It's true that a forced induction S2000 could put down some great 1/4 mile times, but if you want to go down the aftermarket line of logic, I could spend thousands on tires, suspension goodies, and have someone dial it in just right and have a wonderful handling C5. Once you start talking modification, the only thing that matters is how much money you have to throw at it.
I'll still say, two great cars for two different kinds of driving experiences.

Last time I checked, a Stock C5 Corvette was running around a 13.4 in the 1/4 and a stock S2000 ran a 13.5. Not trying to start a war, just saying in the power department, horsepower and torque doesn't apply to these 2 cars. The s2000 has a GREAT power to weight ratio along with a GREAT weight distribution for handling. IMO the interior is a little more upscale compared to the Corvette and in the end, its still a Honda, meaning that maintenance will be very basic (oil changes, etc.) and gas mileage will be just as high as any other Honda. Yes, Corvette's can be made much more faster than the S2000 (LSx motor, 427 stroker, my favorite, etc.), but for me I would rock a hard-top S2000.
That, and the S2000 has a flawless Honda transmission and reliable Honda motor. But like you said, Its 2 different kinds of driving experiences. If it were me, and I could afford it, I would be rocking what you are! Although a Cobra is another beast that can take out the monster Z "OH!!!" 6, Ive driven my buddies 2.4L Kenne Bell Cobra, and it was one of the sloppiest car's Ive ever driven IMO. It was all over the place and the steering felt loose. But hey, my DSM is a Z06 killer also, so Im content!

Where do you get the unlimited potential of the C5? First off, it will require either a different GM motor or at least need to be stroked. And if thats the case, you can put either a Turbo 2JZ motor or a LS1 I believe. And from there, the S2000 too, becomes a car with "unlimited potential". Also, not to argue with you, but the S2000 also comes in a Hard Top, very nice might I add. I don't know where you get the idea that the S2000 is a girly car, considering the only S2000 ive seen so far driven by any girl was the gooky ***** from 2 Fast 2 Furious. And that was several years ago!
S2000 for the win! In gas mileage, power potential, handling, interior, and exterior (in terms of looks, aggressive, and ability to modify, IE - front lip, rear diffuser, adding a hardtop, ETC.)

Actually a C5 with bolt ons makes over 400whp and is dead nuts reliable. Its power to weight ratio is just as good also. A C5 is one of the most reliable and cheapest car to make fast. It also gets better gas mileage to be honest. They get 30mpg on the highway..most my friends S2k barely do that as they cruise down the highway at 4k. I think the S2k looks better but in the performance category the C5 does just about everything better. Also since when do S2k run 13.5 stock...they do not. Most can barely break low 14's. Full bolt on S2k run 13.5 maybe. Been to the track and seen it many times. A header, intake, and cam on a C5 runs 11's

If drag racing is your thing, the C5 is a no brainer. Sub 14 times in an S2000 involve breaking lots of parts.
And sadly, the 5.7L pushrod V8 gets better mileage than the 2.0L DOHC I-4.

I hope this is not a surprised to anyone on this forum, I have driven both. Years ago I almost got them as well, back them my first wife never wanted me to get a two door car (now ex).
The LS1 is a very capable engine, you can add any bolt on that you can imgaine, any shop can do work on it and you will find that maintain it is cheap as hell. The S2000 is an inferior car as far is producing the torque that you would need to drive in traffic, any POS v6 mediocre american made car(Ford Taurus, pontiac Gran Am,Buick Riviera) and cars like that would give you a better midrange torque than the S2000 so needless to say I am pointing out that the S2000 torque is below average so be aware.
You don't have to remind me about the turbokits on the s2000 because I already seen how fast the S2000 can be with a turbokit. This is a tough choice, perhaps the S2000 is more refined but the C5 vette mighgt be more practical, small things like trunk space or gas mileage the Vette wins.
The S2000 interior looks simple bad a$$, it is absolutely astonishly sporty, specially the steering wheel. I am not going to lie, I am 50/50, I have no favorite to me they are both great car for the money so I would recommend both(I like both).
Garb a paper and a pen and write the things you like about one and the things that you don't like and that would help you to determine.
Best of luck!
Carlos

IMO, there is alot more potential in a C5 platform due to the sheer " GIGANTOR of the aftermarket. Pick your form of automobile adrenaline induced euphoria and the C5 platform can do it cheaper, faster, and better than a S2000 platform, IMO.
In the end it's up to the OP as to what he thinks and he needs to drive both. I still think the S2000 is a girly car, just like the Miata, Z4, Z3, Porsche Boxter, I do not nor would purchase any of them, Saturn Sky, Solstice.
It's all opinion and trade offs in the end. If there was 1 clear winner in this crazy automobile world we would all be driving the same thing, right :-)
