I currently have two German Shepherds and I've had 4 total. They are wonderful, smart and loyal dogs but they also have tons of energy. Make sure you have the space to let her run and play. Also just plan on at least one walk per day to get rid of that energy.

They also chew a lot so make sure to crate train her. It is not cruel at all and they will feel safe inside their crate. Do not ever punish her when she is in the crate. That is her safe area and it needs to be kept that way. Left on her own she will get bored and destroy everything. I didn't crate train my first dog because I was too cheap to buy new crates and I thought it was cruel. He destroyed a recliner, my weight bench, a love seat and my basement steps. With patience and training he turned into the greatest dog I could ever wish for.

Good luck and read everything you can find on training the breed and remember, patience.

German Shepherds are great dogs. Mine is a 7 month old girl and she's brilliant. Nice a mellow inside, and then very active outside

my uncle used to breed them when i was younger. Our entire family, aunts, uncles etc had german shepherds all from the same family. It was pretty cool. They are definitely good dogs, just gotta keep em occupied otherwise your house will be no more.

saying that though. Our newest lab puppy is a million times more destructive them daisy (gsd) ever is. Daisy will actually listen if you tell her no, and then doesn't do it again. However rachel's stupid lab puppy is retarded and continues to eat things.
