Some insurance companies will handle a claim if the event was an HPDE/School. As soon as it is timed it then becomes a competition and you are most def not covered.

Good thing is seems as though everyone is ok. I feel real bad for the owner of that NSX and the G35.

I was at Pocono on Sunday (bike trackday and saw the carnage. My riding buddies gf was the instructor in the car right behind the Evo. That was a freind of the Evo. They were driving over their head, the crash was the Evo's 3rd incident and as they found out later the car she was in was chasing the Evo to video tape. The Evo came onto the front straight, put both right tires on the grass, over corrected and went back across the track and overcorrected again back to the right and went back into the grass spinning out and hitting the other cars while they were parked and waiting on the grid at pit out.

This is the reason Videos are not allowed in most organizations including the one they were driving with. In this case, the camera was in the back of the car, not on the dash so it wasn't noticed by the instructors. I have a great camera mounted on the side of my bike. I would use it to tape sessions and look at my own lines and used the audio to see where my shift points changed, when I got off a corner better etc. Because of an incident on a bike trackday I had to cut power to the camera even though there was no recording medium on the bike and tape over the lens. It sucks for the other 2 car owners that got taken out by someone that wanted to be an internet hero.

I have never heard of getting hit in the pits...... what a dumb f-u-c-k driving the evo.

I would have to guess the NSX is totalled...?

Insurance on race cars is available. My brother crew chiefs a Rolex Series GT BMW team and both cars are insured w/ a $10,000 deductible. He is between Laguna Seca and Phoenix this week, but I will try and find out who it is.

Yup, the NSX and the G35 driver what parked at grid waiting!! I feel sorry for them.... I saw the video of the EVO lost control and the driver just kept his foot down the gas padel. I'm speechless.

I think the almost impossible to repair aluminum chassis of the NSX would say otherwise...

The NSX was definitely totalled too but the G35 had the drivers door pushed in 8" or so and had the roof buckled in 3 places. Obviously it won't be as expensive to fix since it isn't an exotic but it was hit harder and with a higher risk of injury and percentage of damage relative to cost. The drivers were lucky, they were sitting still so no air bags for them. The Evo driver sure ate some airbag though.
