So the Direzza ZII is officially the fastest street tire?

"The Direzza ZII still posed a lap time better by over 2/10s on a short 29-second course! The Direzza also had the best slalom time, tied with the Rival for first in average cornering, and came in second in stopping distance in the dry. It also beat the Rival in the wet."

Can anyone confirm this from experience? How well do these tires hold heat and can you also expect the Direzzas to be fastest over a longer stint at the track?

i think all that the tirerack test proves is that the sidewalls on the ZII are stiffer. I'm not sure how applicable that test is to an evo on a road course.

GRM's test results show the bfg being the fastest tire. ...so who knows.

Never driven on the Rivals, but I did use the ZII's and then the RS-3's back-to-back and the Dunlops def felt better on track to me. The Hankooks feel way too soft through the corners. The ZII's inspire more confidence driving at speed, at least for me they do.

Have people found the sidewalls on the ZII to be stiffer than the Z1? I really like my ZI's hence why I've gone through a couple sets of them and will mopst likely be replacing them with the ZII's however I really miss the super stiff sidewalls that the factory Advan AD046 offered.

My STR buddies have found the Rival to be faster in AutoX. A few of them also found Toyo R1R's be faster than ZIIs, but R1R's are too soft for the heavy Evo. We chunked a set before 100 runs in 265s on an Evo.

I haven't tried the Rivals yet, but we have found the ZII's easy to overheat on hot days.

Do you have a link to the GRM test results or could you post their results here too?

It is worth noting that GRM typically tests tires on lighter cars, GRM found the Rivals to be the fastest on some older Hondas.

The results are unlikely to translate directly to heavier AWD cars...
