The Hoosier contingency is definitely great! But that also depends on your competition. The difficulty in racing is that you have to finish. Our regional races are 35min, so anything can happen.

A6s are faster out of the box than R6s.
It is debatable that they are faster after the R6s get warmed up.
in my experience once you get a few laps on them the R6 are just as fast. but that first lap, racing at our level, is too much to make up in a race.

Hardly debatable, there are tons of SCCA national level drivers who say the A6's are over 1 second (some even more) faster than the R6 whether it's warm or not. R6's are not on the same level. Check all the podiums.

No, but there are some there too, I think split between Hoosier and Khumo.
I was referring to the runoffs, road course and such. The A6's are the tire to have. More applicable to TTS anyways. Also look at most of the Time Trial champions from the last few years from TTU/TTA/TTS and they are running A6 (except for Ryan who had some tires I'd never heard of before).

Well 95% ob the time in time trials you get your fastest lap in the first lap or two after your out lap/warm up lap. So that is why most TT guys use them. The hard core TT guys come off the track once you catch traffic because after 4 laps you are usually already reaching the slower classes...
HAHAHA, at nationals I was running massive camber -4 degrees because the michelins love it. Well on the first day of competition I mounted brand new A6's. I left the camber at -4 as at the time I had no accurate way and I didnt want to just eye it so I went out on the A6's.
Two sessions I melted through my passenger front tire. And even through out the week, that tire regardless of set up took the abuse due to all the left corners. So I went to the Hoosier guys and they had a near mint R6 in my size, not only did they give it to me they mounted it for free!!!
So I was on the track 3 A6's and 1 R6... First lap i could feel slight push on it as it was not to temperature, second lap and so forth car felt good, and actually worked to my advantage because the R6 manages its heat better. I drove longer and harder as that was the first tire to usually really lose grip on the track when it was an A6! HAHAHA, I usually run different tire pressures all the way around to obtain best grip/wear but that was the first time I used different tires! LOL

You are right, at most events you won't get many laps before catching traffic if you are fast. But many of the guys who are running TT and racing run them in the races too as well as SCCA T1, T2 etc etc. Costly to run, but they seem to get the job done. I think A6's have won T1 runoffs for several years running (don't know if the Ferrari's ran them though) which is IMO the most competitive amateur racing in the country. The general consensus though is that you have no chance at all on R6's in T1.

all the podiums are A6 because of the exact reasons I said... if i put you 5 seconds down on the first lap... you aint catching back up.

True, but given a car on a true race slick like michelin blues, keep your 5 seconds on the out lap because I will you run you down with an average of 3 seconds faster per lap....
haha but in that circumstance the race slick would qualify faster anyways! LOL..... w2w implied only...

what? we were talking about SCCA Touring (no slicks) or ST2/TTS (hp/weight penalty for slicks)
... but i guess if you strapped rocket engines to your car you could make up 3 secs a lap also.
