Who races their evo with no wing?

I recently replaced my stock wing with a rexpeed type C wing. So far I've noticed almost no difference but thats with highway driving and autocrossing. I do HPDE's as well but have not done one with the rexpeed wing. I did some searching and read that the rear end gets a bit squirrely when hard braking at high speeds. I wanted to know how much of a difference it actually made from people who have gone from stock wing to no wing or stock wing to rexpeed wing and race their cars.

If you were doing Time Attack, the wing makes big differences. Freeway/Highway driving, NO difference at all. But if you were going 100+ on twistys/turns, breaking SUPER hard, that wing will do magic on the car and will shave some couple seconds on your laps, even MORE than couple seconds depending!

It takes a LOT of downforce to shave more than a couple seconds a lap, how much does the stock wing make actually? Maby 250lbs at 120?

its not the numbers its the confidence it gives the driver with a more stable chassis.
My buddy who tracked his RS said it was so much better when he put a stock wing on it.
I believe him because I watched his times first hand go down as soon as he did it.

Confidence and numbers are two different things, what may feel faster and stable may very well be slower.

If you want to see the airflow with "smoke/dust" check out this video we made on a dry lakebed. Ya we're tearing it up on the clay, but there's long stretches of the vid where you can see the dirt flow off the roof and thru the rear wing. Call it a poor man's wind tunnel Just watch the rear wings carefully in this vid we did. Oh, i'm the graphite gray car

I can notice a difference going fast. The back just seems the slightest bit lighter. I stay wingless though, doesnt make enough of a difference for me.

I don't notice it up to about 100 mph. Then it does become noticeable. If you want to go wingless, but keep the stability, install a good rear diffuser.

You can also help your stability under breaking by installing the white line rear bump-steer correction kit and replacing the rear trailing arm bushings. I installed both at once, so I don't know which of the two had the bigger effect, but it did eliminate some of the tail wagging I would occasionally get under heavy breaking.

Drives: the friggin' wheels off.

I had the little ozrally wing on my car stock and I notice a night and day difference with my APR GTC wing and APR diffuser. I added them in one shot because I knew I would be adding drag with the new wing so I wanted to counteract it with a diffuser below to decrease some drag. Can't say I can notice drag change... heck you just turn the MBC a notch to overcome that... but the downforce is very noticable. Fast turns such as "the kink" at CMP and the "climbing esses" at VIR full benefit greatly. I picked up 10mph through the kink and I'm now up to 110mph climbing the esses if I'm ballsy enough.

I actually just cadded up some brackets that are currently being machined to raise the spoiler higher into the clean air for two reasons:
1. It blocked my rear view.
2. I want to see if I can get more out of it.

I'll be testing them out at Hyperfest on the 20th-21st.
